Many may think that the Dallara Indy cars brought out by Scalextric last year are carp, and in terms of tuning, attention to detail and imagination they are.

But, thank God Scalextric released the white versions (if only officially across the pond to our American friends, but again thank God for Ebay!). And they are great for practicing those decal and spraying skills, without shelling out for something more... detailed and costly!

Anyway, here are a couple of mine which I have relivered and jazzed up, courtesy of some decal sets from Indycals and a bit of spare time. Hope you like?

Has anyone else been tinkering with these lovely little racers?

Cheers

Thanks for the comments Alan,

Yep, both are actual IRL cars, I think from the 2002 or 2003 season - same as the Red Bull Special Edition version that Scalextric released.

I am planning the Penske Malboro version soon, when I can find another white Scaley Indy car. Any help on tracking some down would be excellent.

Cheers,

Mark

Far from being 'carp', these cars are great fun to drive...

I've been wanting to have a go at some similar paintjobs myself, but I don't think i could match yours Gecko...
Well done...

How about modifying one to look like the G-Force with the longer sidepods and different airbox? Both the Montoya and Rice Indy winners would be good...

How long before Scalextric bring out Dan Wheldon's car for the UK market??

Thanks for the comments Inside Info
, the great things about these cars is that you can achieve some really good results without too much hassle.

Check out indycals.com, Michael has loads of decals in 1/32 scale for not only the more modern indy cars but those that raced in the 60's. If you can't find any plain white dallaras just check out ebay.com, Pauls' Pitstop based in the US sells them and he is more than happy to ship to the UK.

As for modifying the sidepods, I will have to take a look some pics of the cars you mentioned, but it sounds like a good challenge and I like challenges!

It would be great to see more scalextric plain white conversions (e.g. dallaras, GT40s, vettes etc).
