Daytona 24 DP Cars

I have been looking at the new DP cars that raced in Jan 2018 at the latest Daytona 24 and I have to say that they look great.

Interesting unique lines and plenty of lively liveries (not the replica schemes of the factory teams).

It would make so much sense for a manufacturer to get into this class!

Most of us, do not care if the rear of the cars needs to be modified to allow for the motor and the spurgear.

Just make them!

Sorry but I think they are hideous, if they were all painted the same it would be difficult to tell the difference. Lots of bits to break off as a slot car as well.

Perhaps you, like me, grew up in a time of different aesthetic judgement. To me a beautiful car is not something produced by Tonka which seems to be the way these days.

Leave these to younger folks.

My primary interest is the Group-C cars from the late eighties to early nineties but I also have a passing fondness for the more modern prototype classes.

On a whim I recently bought the Scalextric Ford DP and have to say that it's a lovely model (despite the overly blingy metal foil finish).

I could see myself picking up a few more from this class if they were available.
I understand that they are not for everyone but I am sure that at club level this class could be interesting provided there are several models and liveries.

Personally, I can see and appreciate the differences between the 4 of them: look at those side mirrors how different from model to model! ;-)

This uniformity in the shape might be related to the fact that once you get the right formula everyone tend to get close to it whether in the past there was more diversity due to the fact that teams were still experimenting.
