I hooked up a nice robust DC power supply to my Scaley power track and after several hours I smelled burnt electrical components and one lane stopped working. Then I noticed that the power base had an AC symbol at power-in.

Oops!!

Has anybody done this terrible thing and were you able to repair it?

Here is my solution.
I am modifying the fried power base to take DC.
After I have run tests and determined it is a workable situation, would anybody be interested in pictures/instructions?

For those who are not familiar with 'Jimmy', he is 'Jimmy in Greece', otherwise known as Jim McLaughlin, who has produced and continues to do so, some of the most helpful, accurate and best-written technical 'How To Articles' ever seen. If you never read anything else of Jim's, you must read
Tuning Plastic Chassis.
It's an all-time classic.
Apologies for my straying Off-Topic, but it's worth it I promise!

Not quite dead on topic, but very closely allied to it and hopefully of general interest,
is Fantasy World's take on Scalextric Power Bases
It may not yet include the Sport Versions, but does cover pretty well ALL the multifarious older ones and, for that reason alone, is an invaluable resource.

Is anyone familiar with DiSlot (DS) transformers? Are they AC or DC, please?

Kind regards
