I've been randomly playing with a track design for a 4lane Ninco on an 8' by 12' table (possible 8'x16'). I've got a lot of designs, but nothing I've fallen for yet. I've setup a couple of them, and they seem to go well, but they all seem to be missing something.

Anyone bored and want to throw together some designs for me?

"Requirements":
4 lane Ninco track.
1 longish straight.
Space for scenery
Space to build a nice 1/2 lane pit area
Overpass not necessary, but if your design flows with it, so be it, I'm open.

Thanks in advance.

I'd like to help pupkick, but without software it's going to be difficult to pass along any ideas to you. I have a 4-lane Ninco track myself on a table approximately 5 1/2" X 21".

I just assembled the track on the table a few times until I had something I could live with. The design I have now is the third. It's a fast track, maybe not as technical as I would like, but now that it's down and I've begun landscaping it I'm going to leave it as is.

I'm not sure of the actual dimensions but this track is about the size you asked for and was designed to be portable.

The track used is Artin but its an example of a great 4-lane design in a confined space you could make with any track brand. If I remember correctly, the main straight is 4m and the width is just over 1m so easy to marshall. You could add your pit area along the main straight. It would be easy to remove a few straights to cut the length but stil retain the overall design. I can't say how Ninco would fit but the design itself is a driver's track. Simple to learn but tough to master. And when you do, you run the track in revere direction to start again.

Some of us had a great afternoon of racing there yesterday using a range of non-mag cars from Ninco classics, V8 supercars up to Slot.It 956's with silicon tyres. The factor everyone commented on was the way the elevation and camber changes worked from a driving perspective as well as looking more realistic. They are steeper than they appear in the photos and typical of the Aus Supercar tracks. The different radii turns plus elevation changes rewarded good, smooth driving.

cheers

The problem with four lane tracks is just that when you have a confined space to work with. Ninco is large also so you will have to go fairly simple.

I remember a similar complaint on a message board a while ago and someone reminded them that you have four lanes to get to know with each lane having it's own character.

Get a few mates around when you have one set up and race them on it. Then you will see how much fun a relatively simple four lane track can be.

I agree. The design of my 4-Lane track is fairly simple, but the racing is lots of fun. Each lane does have it's own unique character.

I have a Ninco 2 lane so this is easier, but I find it strangely entertaining to start an idea with the track and just start assembling and see what happens. Obviously, it doesn't work out every time but it is interesting to see what develops. I also have 4 of the Ninco to Scaley adapters so this opens up a few doors by using a few of the Scaley pieces that I have in with the Ninco.

Those are both classic "squashed 8" designs. Used by many club tracks. Easy to marshall, equal lane lengths.

Very well done! The only flaw I can see is the "kink" in the middle of the table which will cause deslots which may be hard to reach. Might want to make that a straight shot thru, bring it closer to the edge, or leave an aisle to get in and reach cars.

I sometimes wish I had ninco track so I could build something like that. Carrera track is just a bit to big to do that in four lanes in my space. The R1 is just really big.
