I think £36 is not that bad, there not in mint condition but with a bit of TLC you could have four nice cars.

What!!!, You don't already have one ????

Thats rule #1
then You must learn the following,
- No Dear, Ive had them for ages
- No, I swapped them for another car.
- These were cheap, the guy didn't know what he was selling, they're worth a lot of money, WE will make a killing on those down the track.

I'd rather a simpler take on things.

1) Did you want them?
2) Can you afford them?
3) Are you happy with them?
4) Does buying them mean you can not pay bills or eat for the next week?

If you answered yes to the first three and no to the last one, then all is well and whatever price you paid is fine.

Just Kidding Embs.

To be serious for a minute, My missus is pretty good about my slotcar purchases. As long as I stick to something like Embers list, it's usally fine. So it's good advice. On the plus side My wife never has to think too hard about Birthdays and Xmas Presents for Me.

36 quid is less than 60 dollars so 15 bucks each for a slotcar isn't bad going at all. I'd say you did okay.

You'd think I'd tell a similar tale. But thinking I've made things simple for His Lordship I still don't get Birthday and X'mas presents receiving the continual excuse "You're too hard to buy for!" Seriously, I'm not convinced I can make it any easier.

9 quid a car isn't bad, is it? You might have got them cheaper elsewhere, but who cares, you've got them now.

Be disciplined with ebay, or you could end up in trouble lashing out too much dosh. Set a total price for the item and p&p in your mind and STICK TO IT. I've let loads of things go when they are reaching the "not such a bargain price anymore" bids. walk away and buy another time.

I love the CLKs, I've got the Scaley and Ninco version and have lots of fun with them, just banging in laps on my own. enjoy.

Embers post was sound advice. I was lucky, I fluked it and married a girl who is realistic about these things - she even spent £60 on me in Pendles when we were up there last week, knowing I was rat-arsed broke. And I didn't even ask her to!!!!! If that's not a good enough reason to hang on to Mrs Snurf, I don't know what is, bless her.

Damn. Y'mean there's no hope for us then, Snurfy ol' mate? Bugger. But, can Mrs Snurf tune a rally car? Then again... after this weekend's IoM effort, not sure I can either.

Now thats standard female reasoning ...

My check sheet answers for purchase are:

1. Did you want them ? Yes
2. Can you afford them ? Probably not but see above.
3. Will you be happy with them ? probably ... after I rebuild them.
4. Can you slip it into the wifes balance spreadsheet without it appearing too obvious and disclose it at an opportune time when she is in a good mood ? This needs to be a yes, or it is just not worth risking !
