The Eagle has Landed

Pit-Pro still needs to be installed:

Made my self a "Shauns Esses" chicane.

From another angle

Left/Right Es

Right/Left Es

It makes a faster line through the esses

Who needs headlights for digital racing ?

I'm pretty much on another planet right now, so I'll return later with a proper description of my last plastic track(After this one it's gonna be wood)

Cheers

thanks all
I can't say much is happening, or maybe too much is happening.

I have worked a bit on the left side of the track, and also been testing the 2-lane to 3-lane distributor track piece and even though it looks a bit Scruffy I can say that it works really well Of course you'll slide a bit if you go into it too fast but it is definitely an attacking possibility :)

It leads into a huge R4U3 Sweeper:

Everybody have to break late into a left hand Squeeze:

The inner exitlane is a inner 2 inner 3 half straight inner4

back and under the Sweeping 4 and through a left hand R2i3 and into a straight

I haven't got the funds for digital bits (Or any thing else for that matter) but eventually I'll add some more flippers for this section.

until next time have a nice sunny spring :)

LOVE the squeeze, Lars. That track looks like a blast to drive.

Thanks Greg

Looking at it on the pictures I can feel an urge to move the Outer lane of the left hand squeeze closer to the 2 inner lanes.

Hmm I think I know what I'm gonna do tonight. :)

thanks for stopping by.

So I've been chopping my last digital bits (2 pit lane pieces)

one of them was transformed into this high speed straight lane changer

Very effective I must say as I can take it at full throttle with a F1 car :)

I shaved the flipper and added a half inner R3 pieces in reverse and then 2 straight pieces.

The other pit lane piece was made into this short single lane changer
No grinding on the flipper just added 1 and a half straight to the lanechanger, very easy:

And then I did another Squeeze :)

And last but not least Hear is a collage of my current test set up

cheers

wow, just wow. You sir, are a genious.

seriously great stuff, I might have a go myself some time! actually, what would be easier is if you informed scalextric about your genious ideas, they should take note!

(ooh first post, recent forum lurker first time poster me

Hi there Mr. B and welcome to the forum,
Even though it's great to lurk(I find my self lurking a lot too) it's all so a great place to share ideas, and most of this stuff wouldn't happend if it wasn't for this forum.

thanks for stopping by.

cheers
well, to be honest I havn't been lurking for too long!

anyway, naturally I will share ideas etc and all the rest of it.

one such idea i've been mulling over is a tight chicane (like the first chicane at monza) but with the slots/lanes closing up on each other so it would be pretty hairy through it, maybe with 3/4 lanes all really tightly packed. that was just a thought.

Oh, and i've realized already from these forums i've got alot of slot car terminology to learn!

That is brilliant, I'd contempleted something similar by inserting the flipper sections into a routed track, but you have taken it to a completely different level! I'd be faaaar too scared to undertake something like this!

Are you going to give the track pieces the same treatment as your other tracks with a layer of "dry wall mud" then carved into? (I must admit I am "borrowing" that idea of yours for my own track
)

you are the cut and paste plastic king my friend! well done:)
You must have a lot of spair pieces to start a work like that.
But nice with some different racing lines - hope they work for you.

I am a loss for words!

You have done work that most of us can only appreciate and not replicate.

You called a "short single lane changer" a very easy piece of work. Not so my friend!
I will be lucky to create a modified CLC IN-to-IN best lane piece and that involves only one track cut per piece!

Kudos to you for experimenting and showing how plastic track can emulate routed for design variations.

Cheers!

I got a few odd pieces :)
Hope you'll stop by sometime during the summer for some slot related activities.

When you get started you'll find out how easy it really is.

@Bam
Ohh yes I'll Do some cosmetic turn over on the modded track pieces, but not too much of the carving to begin with as I'm a little worried about dust in the mechanics and sensor parts of the lanechangers, + general maintenance of the lane changers, so I don't want too many patches of drywall mud that can come loose if I have to fix the plastic thingie that moves the flipper.

@ Mr. Scorpio
It's very much a test track, however lot's of stuff going on at the moment and if everything turns out good I'll be having a massive space for 1 large scenic digital track and 3 scenic rally tracks!!!(The Shopping Mall, The Mountain, + a yet to come rally cross track/raid track combineable in different ways)

Just have to find a way to fund the rent. :-( ......or rent out the fun.

This Rug Racing adventure is spanning 2 rooms hence the waste of space in the middle but I made it so 6 people could see the whole track, but of course there is a big contrast between the high speed part and the spaghetti bit.

thanks for the interest and taking the time.

Lars if ya charged £100 for a tent pitch in ya garden for a racing weekend you could count me in... maybe not in december judging by the snow you had blowing accross the mountain!

sure there are many more who would be happy to help fund the next part of the well mountain mad mans continued exploits in the same way!

Soon all your tracks will be digital.......

@aZLAn2000
I think that for every analog track that I've built I've been staring at it for hours imagining driving lines and thinking if only I could afford a lot of digital bits.

But does digital rally tracks really make sense ?
Maybe a digital rally cross track with shock resistant cars, but to me rally tracks are one lane/one car affairs and if you have plenty of x-overs you get your driving line through those.

My shopping mall is good for digital pursuit though :)

brilliant and brave ideas.
I'm not sure I have the courage to cut the scaley pieces as you have done, especially the digital ones.
Maybe one day I'll give a try...

I've managed to miss this thread, but I 've just spent the last 30 mins catching up and most enjoyable it was too!

Good to see your creative juices flowing Lars! I would be missing finger tips and constantly bleeding if I were to attempt cutting track!

Have you ever considered routing wood? I would love to see what you could come up with! Endless possibilites.

Looking forward to more
thanks Jamie and Stuart.
It was really quite fast end easy to do most of the mods.

Still I would like very much to do a routed track, but it probably won't happen for a while.

thanks for stopping by.
