hi all.

working on a shell which is based on an old plastic model which had some amount of distortion. i guess from the plastic used and the motor getting hot.

i have got rid of most of it, but the shell is still a few mill out left to right, and the back end is lifting slightly at one side.

i was thinking about making a very solid casting box, and using screws to hold the shell in place (a bit like those funky head braces people have to wear after major accidents!) and then pouring in my silicone.

hopefully this silicone will hold the shell in position after the screws are removed so i can pour the insides.

anyone tried this or is there a simpler solution that i am missing ?

thanks in advance....

Marty,

I had the same problem with a body twisting. I used cold-hot glue and glued it to a flat board to take the twist out. Then, with a hair dryer, got it very warm and repeated this over a few days. It never made the fix permanent, as after a few weeks it would twist again, but it lasted long enough to make a mold.
