I was in B&Q the other day and spotted some 'pipe wrap' - foam insulation for water pipes. And I thought 'I wonder if I can make those into tyre walls'. So I tried...

Cut and taped to approximate size and shape

and hey presto!!

They don't look too bad, I think!

I got over 30 from one 1-metre length of foam - and did I mention the foam is 59p per metre?!!

cheers,

Rob

Taxi, a rather clever idea!

You could even take the finished product, and a little clear silicone as glue, and build up lengths of these (two layers deep to hide the gluing) to form a soft, continuous barrier.

Ok.... please send me 500 hundred!

Just kidding, but that's a very innovative solution and they look great!

Completely OT here. I've cut those foam pieces into three-foot lengths and used them with my daughter as play swords! I made "swords" for most of the kids in my neighborhood. It was wild to look out in the front yards and see several kids whacking each other with these fake swords. If you try this, I'll warn you that the swords make a real loud sound on impact.

My Church used one of the swords during our Easter Play. We used it as a sound effect for the beating of Jesus. If nothing else, we kept the audiences attention!
