I'm thinking of upgrading my analogue Ninco track with Oxigen. Most of the time we will be racing with 2 human drivers and 2 ghost cars. I have a question and couldn't find the answer in the other topics. My question is, do I need controllers for the ghosts too or only for the human drivers and use these to program the ghost cars? So do I need 2 or 4?

I belive that all communication is going to and forth the dongel and the grip SCP01!
And is the radiotransmitter in the grip tha have all contact with the unit in the car!
I could bee that lapcounting is sending from the cars unit O201a too the dongel and the program O2_Chrono!

I think you will need a controller per car. This from the FAQ.

QUOTE Q: Does O2 support ghost cars? Refueling? Pace car? Drive through?
A: The SCP-1 already has a built-in ghost feature. Further, the oXigen protocols allow individual setting of speed, braking, and lane changing for each car. This means that the PC can reduce top speed, or reduce braking, for each car to simulate a heavier car right after pit stop. You can even force penalties (drive through pit lane) or herd all cars back to the pit lane after racing. Pit lane speed and pace car mode speed are adjusted from RMS control panel.

Exactly what the Pace car Mode allows I am not sure, however I assume that the Pace Car still requires a Throttle? I am sure Maurizio will explain.

As You qouted RichG
"The SCP-1 already has" thats mean a single Handcontroll for each car on the track!
So if yoo want to run 8 cars is around €800 only for that!
How can wee find a way around that?

I could probaly come up with a little box that controlled multiple cars, after I have sorted the oXigen protocols for my Display-Pro VGA, however do not hold your breath. Slot.it may have something in mind?

That would be a disappointment if this is really true. An extra €200+ just to run 2 ghost cars is a bit much. I'll put my plans on hold for now. Perhaps in a few months things are looking better (or my wallet bigger

Hi.
There are two ways of making ghost cars go around, but in all cases a controller is needed for each car. With O2
1 - use the built-in feature of the SCP-1
2 - set the speed and lane changing option for each car from page 2

There are no plans to change this, so probably Richard's solution will be a good option.

As the track is always powered in 12v, you can just put a resistor between the braid and the motor to lower it, so the car can drive in every curves ! for example a 5w variable pot, 0 to 50 ohm will make it.
No need to buy a 110€ SCP-1 and a 25€ chip to drive a car at a constant speed !

Rich box will be very anticipated !!! I would buy at least 3 (to control 3 cars)
I have 2 SPC and saving up for one more. I think 3 is the sweep spot and while expensive, well digital was not meant to be cheap I guess, not high-end digital.

It's on my very long to do list... The good news is that a lot of the work I have done for the SSD wireless throttles will be able to be directly used. I would hope that one box could control 6 Ghost Cars. There is then however a lot of detail to be worked out. I has still not fully understood pairing, then would need to decide if this was just constant speed or if the cars have a target lap time / random lane changing etc.

Anyway it's some way off before I can get started as a lot of work still to do on Display-Pro and it's wireless throttles.
