Hi Guys,
Dongle tips.
1)Install dongle on 2 to 5m USB extension cable extended up to ceiling. Mandatory.
Why? Humans can compromise dongle signals more than most other material you can think of.
Like an antenna for a TV it must be clear of immediate surrounding objects.

For on ther fly reflashing or reconfiguring of cars using LAPTOP, throttles and Lane Brains, the USB extension cable is not required.

2)The laptop should not be on the floor.

3)The dongle should not be installed in the rear of a desktop computer. Once again use the USB extension cable.

4)Do not use USB extension cable over 5m, in fact keep it to 2m if possible. Over 5m the impedence is too great and the signal will be compromised.

Can a "live/active" USB extension be used to overcome the 5m limit? I've only recently heard about that limit and the use of powered extensions to enable longer cords, so I'm not versed on that technology. 5m is pretty long, though.

Hi Guys.
Im sorry to have to announce but the dongle casing is only good for one place.....THE GARBAGE CAN.
Analysis of the marketed product shows 978/1000 successful transmissions and 1000/1000 successful transmissions WITHOUT the dongle case.
Perhaps it is the sticker? That is the only thing that has changed recently.

Ok more testing but for now I removed casing and have heat shrunk the dongle to protect the PCB.

More news soon.

Can the original dongle be updated by software to fix them or is a hardware fix required? Is it's a hardware issue, what kind of dongle exchange will you be offering for those of us with the original dongles that do not work properly?

I'm not talking about warranty issues, I'm talking about the new dongle overcoming the shortcomings of the old one and working how the old one was meant to in the first place. Having spent $75 on a dongle, it should work 100%. If there is a problem with the design and needs to be re-tooled by upgrading the hardware, there should be something in place for existing customers to get the working dongle (ie: without having to remove the casing, etc) without having to fork out another $75.

As Nigel said were on the same page, in other words they will be replaced under warranty
