For the third consecutive year DHORC will be running its 150 foot plus 8 lane replica of the Donington Park National Circuit at this weekend's British Touring Car Championship meeting.

Race for two minutes and win a family ticket for the next Donington Park meeting by setting the most laps. There are two prizes, one for Juniors (Up to 16) and one for Adults.

We will be based in the Paddock Suite in the centre of the Paddock

It is a great driver's circuit ….

….and a great crowd puller

We back onto the pits giving great views of the action there

The winners certainly go home happy

As do our team!

Cheers

Looks like we are probably going to run a ten lane track this year, should be some sight ten cars running at one time. We did run ten lanes at the Rockingham BTCC meeting last year so we do have experience of running ten lanes.

Set up starts at 3pm Saturday

Donington track layout now advertised on BTCC part of Donington Park web site although we have asked them to check the spelling of "Scalextric"
funny how often such a well known name is incorrectly spelt!

Thanks to James Mellor, Phil Rees (below), Ben Roythorne, Cliff Roythorne, Zach Roythorne and Liam Smith the ten lane 133 foot Donington Park track was set up in a couple of hours today

Initially we weren't sure whether we had enough track to build a ten lane version of the same track we have built the last two years but we started small….

…..and finished just as large but with those extra two lanes!

Phil then set about sorting all ten cars and chassis…

…which were soon lined up and ready to go, as were the…..

….ten hand controllers and…..

…..five Tomy Timers all wired up together

The fun starts at 0900 hours tomorrow

OMG, that looks brilliant guys. You Derby boys sure know how to throw an event.... Keep meaning to get up there but never get round to doing it, a few of us might get up there one week evening (if that's ok). Good luck for today, hope all goes well - you deserve it.

Thanks Lee, it was a good day thank you

Would love to host you some time, I know LeeH is coming up for the Indy 500 (Ten Lane Oval) on 22May12 as he enjoyed the Daytona version of same so much. Would give you up 33 minutes of racing as apposed to 15 mins so more bang for your buck, so long as you stay on

I promised Tony we would come down to one of SCHORC's races, will make sure we do soon

Cheers

Sunday turned out sunny but cold, the sun attracting a large crowd to the British Touring Car Championship meeting at Donington Park. With Lucas Blake, Ryan Blake, Jonathon Levers, Paul Levers, James Mellor, Ben Roythorne, Cliff Roythorne, Zach Roythorne and Liam Smith in place we were ready for our first 2 minute race of the day.

We were soon running ten lane races which kept all busy on and off throughout the day. Breaks came when the three BTCC races were on otherwise there was little rest bite.

When we did have some time on our hands, with direct access to the pits we were able to venture up and down the pit lane and take some snaps of the BTCC cars.

Our winners were very pleased with their prizes, especially Junior winner Tom Grisinger

Thanks to all at DHORC who made it a great but tiring day
Cheers
