Hi John/Mick.
Polite request.
I have mentioned this in the past at previous D/T's.
Can we mark the Concours class out of 20, please!
I am sure I can't be alone in finding real difficulty in marking 20+ models in each class using the 1-10 system.
You end up giving most of the entry a 6-7 because in the time frame you have to mark in, I find it impossible to split many/most of the entry by a whole mark. Sure, it is not too bad to mark the top 2-3 , and at the other end of the scale the less lovely 2-3, but in the middle order, it becomes much of a muchness.
It also weighs the competition towards the racing, there will be no racing 'ties' but with the 1-10 concours marking system there could be 4-10 same scores!
You could of course still use 1-10, but allow 1/2 point (.5) scoring, but that risks Ralph going all anti-establishment and giving some one a 3.6!!
One further point. In the event of a tie, does the Concours score or racing result take priorty?
Regards Bill

Phil,
The Model Cars Scrutineers Handbook gives the following dimensions for the Shelby King Cobra.
Wheelbase 93"
Track Front & Rear 56"
It doesn't give an overall length and width unfortunately.

Bill,
It's John's decision on the Concours scoring system.
Actually we have had very few tied scores over the years.
In the event of a tie when combining the results of concours and racing it's the concours result that is the tie breaker.

Cheers.
Mick.

This is the Shelby King Cobra T10 which I believe was a different car.

Hi Phil,
Actually I believe that the quoted measurements are for the car you are talking about.
This is the 1967 car designed for Shelby by Len Terry and not the earlier 1963/4 modified Cooper version.
The car modeled by Monogram and called a King Cobra is in reality a Cooper Monaco T61 with a Ford V8 stuffed in the back.
All the Cooper Monaco T61s*, either Climax or Ford powered, had a wheelbase of 91".
The Ford engine, being a V8, was virtually the same length as the 2.5 or 2.7 litre inline 4 cylinder Climax engine.
Details of the Cooper T61M Shelby King Cobra can be found at Ultimate Car Page.com and is also listed in the Scrutineers Handbook under Cooper.
The dates for each of these cars in the Scrutineers Handbook also tie in correctly with the dates of the real cars.

*The one exception is the Maserati engined car which had a longer wheelbase.

Hope that helps.
Cheers.
Mick.

Hi Phil,

It's difficult to judge from a photo but I guess concours voting will decide if it looks right.

Hi Bill,

I'm happy to have voting out of 20, it might spread the middle bunch out a bit.

Cheers

Does anybody who is going to this meeting have a 15ohm controller I could borrow? Gone to sort the slotbox out for the weekend and I've left mine at the clubroom and I can't get there during office hours before the weekend.

Hi guys,

It would be helpful to know numbers for Sunday for bacon rolls which Angella Farrow has kindly offered to prepare. the club is on an industrial estate so there are no local shops or chip shops although I believe there is a McDonalds not too far away.

Entrants so far are:

Davis F
Sam F
David L
Joel
Pete
Colin
Owen
Eddie
Gerald
Phil
Rob
Bill
Tony
Ross
Clive
Mick K
Me but I'm a vegan so don't count for nosh.

I'm not sure who else from Rockingham? Ralph? Chris?

It would help if you could confirm please

Cheers

Me yes, also Eddie assuming jetlag doesn't cause him to fall asleep at the wheel on the way over (which would probably rule me out in that case unless the crash is close enough to the clubroom to just walk the rest of the distance...). No Ralph as Nursie Whiplash is going to Pontefract for Falcon Pro instead. Chris Chris is also busy.
