Hi,

With the release of the FLY BMW CSL I think a r-t-r 'critical mass' has been achieved to propose a DRM/Group 5 pre '81 racing class to my club's executive.

What cars are eligible? Off the top of my head...

Fly Capri
GB Track Lancia Beta Monte Carlo
FLY BMW CSL
Carrera Porsche RSR
Carrera Porsche 935
Ninco Porsche 934 (hopefully imminent!
)

Possibly a wildcard to the FLY Daytona?

Can anyone think of any other r-t-r cars that would be eligible?

We do have scratchbuilders in our midst too, but I'm primarily interested in what our younger and/or less experienced members can buy off the shelf.

Over to you chaps!

SCX made the 935 K3 a long time ago.

The RSR Turbo done Carrera isn't really a Gr.5, though the one present in the anniversary set did indeed compete in the Gr.5 class.

The 934 is a Gr. 4 car. If you take these into account, you may add Scalextric's M1 and Teamslot's Zakspeed Escort.

Regarding the Capri done by, some were raced after 1980. Basically, Gr.5 lasted from 1976 to 1981 (Gr.5 cars were still allowed later on but Gr. B and C were brung since 1982).

Hi Fast Lucky,

Thanks for those extra suggestions for cars
(SCX, Teamslot etc...)

You are absolutely correct about the timescale of the Capri, but I'm allowing it into the class on the basis that that particular body type had been running in DRM well before my 1981 cut off date (1978/79). The 934 is fine by me because it ran extensively (and very successfully!) in Class I of the DRM

Thanks again for your input
