Hi,
Finally finished my project of mating a Betta Classic Eagle Weslake fiberglass shell to one of my SlotCarHeroes F1 chassis. A special thanks to Steve (PastTimeRaceway) for his donor body!
I fabricated a detailed rear end from brass tubes and rods. It's attached by one screw & nut to the rear part of the baseplate. This was my first attempt at something like this... and think I need to shorten the transmission area, as it's too far back.
Here's a closeup of the intake horns (covered with a very fine filter screen material I purchased from a surplus store).
This is the underside. I trimmed off the four mounting loops and detached the front of the lower suspension rods from the chassis and made holes in the body to accept them.
The wheels and tires are TSRF, the wheel inserts are plastic "star" beads that I machined to fit the wheels. Boy... that was a bit of work.
This was a hugely fun project. This is one of my favorite F1 cars from the 1960's.
Thanks!
Tim Johnson
