Fingers crossed Mat.

For those with memberships please note that your expiry date has been extended by one day to cover this round. Forms will be sent out shortly after.

There will be one, possibly two AFX orders placed this year, so at £1 off PER CAR joining makes a lot of sense....

I do have a little tradition of switching classes for the final round of each of my two full seasons so far, Nascar to Mod didnt go well, Pro to Nascar went ok, i've already run LMP this year. Would love to have a another go at Mod......but dunno, it's always pretty tough taking on the regulars.

But if people are eyeing a switch for 2012/13 it makes sense to give it a go before the break.

Potentially we have half a dozen people who could switch, with interesting consequences for all.

Pretty sure Andy P, Dave H and myself will stay put, but....

I am now a DEFINITE! I have to be in B'ton by 4pm though as condition of my "bail". If I can borrow a club car in the morning, that would be great. In the afternoon, time allowing I'll be in NASCAR.

Now, if someone would be so kind as to explain how to wire up my car for running in using one of these, and no other tools or devices I'd be very grateful

Deane, you can now add Louis and Henry Townsend to the confirmed list.

Now, as he is improving do I unleash Henry with a recycled low ohm arm in his Tyco

That is good news Marc and Mat.

I think that the finals will commence around 4pm or so Mat, so you would probably have to miss them, but you can still do the heats.

Not sure what you mean about running in, and that picture is a little blurry. I just balance my cars on a 9V battery, terminals to shoes, and you can quite easily make something up using a piece of track. There are proper break-in boxes too if you want to buy one.

What do others do?

I just meant that the car has only done two laps of the Marlborough Scout hut from new -so I assume it'll need breaking in gently? Which shoe side is the positive if I run it on the battery, and how long do you generally leave it running, Deane?

Mat, I used one of these (with two AA batteries inserted, of course) until I got a fancy power supply:

Any 2 x AA box is fine. Some people prefer 6V. Standard or rechargeable AAs give extremely clean current for breaking in the motor brushes.

I take out the car's rear axle and run for 1-2 hours. Attach the positive wire (red) to the UK driver side pick-up. A tiny drop of oil on each bushing at the start.

Lapping the gears is best done on 9V, with or without an abrasive paste (I use Tesco Value toothpaste for 10 minutes and then clean).

See you on the 1st

Bloody hell, that shows your age (and lack of taste)

Memories of Ryka's burgers and thrashing throught the twisties back up towards London (now sadly a camera infested single carriageway) in the '80s. I visited on a Sunday a few years ago and it was very tame compared to what Boxhill was like 20 years ago.
