That is a good idea.
How much marketing have you done? Sincerely hope you gain a lot of enthusiastic members especially young members as they are the future. Also they tend to have more open minds and will move things forward.

Hi Alfetta

As far as marketing goes, in addition to this thread, the following has been going on in the background to secure, hopefully, a good attendance on Friday night:

Local model clubs have been contacted.

Current members have been asked to 'bring a friend'.

Radio Devon 'whats on' slot contacted and details aired.

The event flyer has been posted on various members work notice boards.

Phone around previous members and also asked them to bring a friend.

Flyer in local model shop windows.

Flyer also posted on village hall notice boards.

Here's hoping that this blanket approach works!!

Hi Alfetta
The club has gone from strength to strength and gone through quite a transistion over the last two years with a new five lane wood track, computerisation of the race management and simplified car classes.
On a normal race night we have 45-60 minutes of practice followed by two races of 5 x 4 minute heats for 15-20 members.

This Friday there will be plenty of cars to try and it will be a great opportunity to come and see what it is all about. Frankly if you are on this forum and live in the Exeter/East Devon/Taunton Area you would be mad to pass up the opportunity to come along.
Linky to our website below, the results page is my favourite and if you are into stats you will be in there for an age.

Some further details on the club:

The club has been racing at various venues in East Devon for the past 20+ years

We now have a great venue (St Johns Ambulance House) it is modern & warm (useful for the coming season) with ample off-road parking.
A kitchen for the required beverage breaks is also a bonus

The club has a number of experienced, read old, members who are willing and able to assist newcomers in getting the best from whatever cars they have.

Club weekly fees are just £4.00 (Bargain, Rodney!!) for seniors and the first 4 weeks are free!!

You will be assured of a warm and friendly welcome.

As Brembo says 'you would be mad to pass up the opportunity to come along'.

What have you got to lose??

Hi
Just to say that we hope to see a few new face's at the club this coming Friday evening. Don't worry if you are unable to be at the hall for 7 o'clock, just get there as soon as you can.
If the door to the hall should be closed just press the button to the left of the door marked "Training Room".

Small Cars, Big Fun ...

So reads the tag line for one of America's foremost distributor of Slot Cars and they're spot on!

Over the past couple of years our club has invested in a custom built state of the art 5 lane track plus race management systems, timing screens and our own website www.edsrc.co.uk to get the most out of this increasingly popular hobby.

This Friday we have an open evening (see attached pdf for details, location etc.) and very much hope you will come along and have a go! No need for cars or controllers, these will be provided. No age or sex barriers - our members range from 14 to 70+ (and the oldest is as competitive now as I gather he was 30 or 40 years ago!) whilst I'm sure Lauren (and occasionally Sam) would welcome more females

I suspect that if you are a slotforum member living within 50 miles of Honiton you probably know the club or at least some of it's members but if not you should come along and see for yourselves.

If you are a novice (or just inept like me!) you will find our club full of people only to happy to help with advice on set-up, car choice etc. There are some real experts whose advice and patience seems boundless.

Hope to see some new faces (and the odd old one that hasn't been along for a while) ...
