Eastlands Park Routed Digital...

Hi
Have been thinking about a routed track for a while now and as the current setup is now starting to become a little boring now seems a good time to start.

The table size I have to play with is 12ftx6ft and it will all be done on a single level, the only thing decided so far as regards to track design is that the pit area will have to be along the back straight and it must be long as I wish to have plenty of garage space.

The cars will only be scalextric and running mag free is a added bonus of going copper tape route as with them throttle control is none existent,so need to find a suitable paint for the tyres to have some sort of grip as they will be kept standard.

The track will be digital and it is my intention to sink the digital track sections into the mdf, including the pb..

I have had a quick look for layouts based on my available track size and drew a blank,so if anyone knows of any on here a link to some pics would be great.

Why not cut away more plastic? When I do my digital test track (someday), I'm planning to cut away as much plastic from the original LC as I can, leaving only what is necessary to hold the flipper, the solenoids, and the sensors, possibly not even the plastic around the sensors. That way, I have complete control over the shape of the slot leading all the way to, and away from the flipper.
Looking great! Can't wait to see the tape all laid and video of your cars flying around it.

Looks good. Have you done the 9v battery driving to see how smooth the cars run?

pushing a car around should help find places where the guide might get stuck. using a 9v will help find places that the car itself actually has a hard time getting around. From your pics so far, though, I doubt there are any of those. Do you have anything remotely tight as an R1 turn?
Very cool. A dream of a race track and room.

Very cool video. I loved seeing the race with the track calls and the lights and all. Excellent.

It's great to see the guys racing in the video. I can imagine the more intense racing Greg mentioned. Thanks very much for sharing the video, Ade!

Were you using stock tires, or something else?
Ah, urethanes. Nice. 50 shore is (I believe) fairly hard, though I've not felt or tested their tires. I wonder if the shore ratings for urethane are different than for rubber? Or maybe a harder urethane is as good as a softer rubber? For that matter, I'm not even sure what the shore rating for the urethanes I HAVE used are. Does anyone know what shore YellowDog or Paul Gage are? I should probably figure that out so I know what to expect should I want to try R1R tires in the future.

Thanks for the answer.

Other than the relatively simpler installation, what's the difference between the live flipper from LP, versus the live flipper from Keith's mod?
Thanks, Ade. I'd never done a live flipper mod so wasn't aware of those idiosyncrasies.
Moto GP? That will be fun. I love mine, but all the rest of my group hates them with a passion.

It would appear that you're using a secondary monitor with ONLY the Leaderboard showing. The rest of the race control stuff is on another monitor. Is that correct, Ade?
Love it!

Was the change in SSDC that the track call sound had been replaced with Murray Walker commentary?

And if you flip the magnets on one side, it won't be possible to stick it on backward.

Love seeing the good times.

Your digital group is really coming together.

Going pure Scorpius then? Should be interesting.

Yes, Scorpius Hybrid.

What I meant was that, with this change, you will no longer be running any Scalextric hardware than their lane changers (and cars). Only Scorpius chipped cars, controlled by Scorpius controllers, will be run on this track from now on, correct? Or, I've misunderstood the photos and what you meant when you said "so long for the c7042apb".
