Hi Lads - Following last nights discussion it has been decided that Chris will take two rally tracks to the Abergavenny Its a Knockout Carnival and Cycling Festival in Bailey Park Abergavenny on Saturday 9th of July.

The idea is to promote our club activitities and attract local members. We need people to help set up and run the stages on the day. So far Matt, Alan, Sebastian and Keith have volunteered to help Chris.
More club members attending will ease the workload on the day. It would be useful to hand out flyers explaining what we do, when and where. If anyone has the ability to design and print some fliers that will be a big help.
Next club night on the 7th Chris will load the tracks, banners and maybe Lewis and Jenson into his van.
I have another three metre gazebo with sides if we need two. I guess set up will start around 10am or earlier, check with Chris for the time.

Part two - Refurbishment of the outside of our clubroom will start on Saturday 30th and sunday 31st of July at 08.30.

We need all club members to attend for this important job. We need people to apply varnish/weatherproofing and paint the top window frames, generally assist in fitting of panels and move debris.

Chris and tradesman will pre assemble panels ready for fitting, once being clad they can also be varnished/weatherproofed etc. Hopefully the job will only take two days, depending on how many people attend. I cannot stress highly enough that the future of the club at these premises depends on this job being done, failure to complete the project will result in us having to look for a new home.

We can sort out more details at the next two club nights.

Cheers - Phil

Last time we attended the Carnival I thought we decided that it would be better to have a circuit. This was due mainly to the fact that most people wanted to race against someone and two rally tracks needed atleast two people marshelling all the time. A simple four lane ninco/scalextric track with club cars wouldn't be too hard to set up on the morning.

I`ve remembered that the thinking behind taking rally tracks was because the big white tent loaned to us by the carnival committee isn`t available, it`s being used by someone else as we havn`t done the carnival for a few years now. Granted we can process more people with a four lane track but it will need adequate cover if the weather is nasty.

I`d like to thank those that turned up today for the clubroom refurbishment for a fantastic effort. The cladding is done and two walls varnished.

A superb effort by Chris, Mike, Andy, Matt and Russell.

We have the two remaining walls to do and rubbish to be removed.

I would suggest that they have two free race nights as a thank you from the club.

We can set a date on thursday to do the remaining work.

No Problem Phil

I think as track is up on thurs every club member should turn up by seven and finish painting /rubbish etc this way once work is done we can start racing. if work not done no slot car.

Hi Simon- I wasn`t there for the carnival but I know the lads handed out loads of flyers and club cards. There are a couple of pics on our facebook page but unfortunately none of the whole display. I don`t know if Keith has any I`ll ask at club tomorrow.

Maybe Chris or Sebastion can fill us in on what happened during the day.

Thanks for your interest - Phil

A BIG thank you to Matt and Andy for their time spent varnishing the building today, we only have one short wall to top coat now and we can turn our attention to the inside. I`m sorry I was late getting there. We still need to shift rubbish from the side of the building maybe we can arrange for the trailer in a week or so.

No problem Chris, I didn`t get there till 1 o`clock, the lads had to buy another tin (the yellow one) and we used all that was there. Can we settle up with them thursday?

The trailer on thursday will be great! What time? I`ll go down a bit earlier if necessary. It`ll be a great help.

Cheers - Phil
