It is what it is, as all the teams use computers and programming nerds at the end of it all the dude turning the steering wheel, pressing the pedals and taking real time decisions is the bit nobody can control but him (and occasionally her). The best teams have the best drivers and some are always better than others.
One make series are utterly boring, I'm not remotely interested in these.
Hopefully the right decisions will be agreed on to put more emphasis on the dude in the driving seat but I've no doubt just like our model car racing the best always rise to the top.

My point about reliability is that the cars and engines aren't being over stressed in modern F1. If the cars had been running at 90% of maximum performance in the 60's and 70's how many more cars would have finished each race ?

I fear the the cost cap for 2021+ will only stiffel innovation in the top teams and although it may allow the smaller teams to catch up this may only make the races even more boring as everyone ends up with level machinery. We can only hope that different teams spend there development in different areas of technology.
Back in the good old days when you had a qually engine, a spare car and as many engines as you could afford...they were built for one race not seven + qually + 3 practices.

You can't level the machinery when there's four different engine manufacturers and 10 car manufacturers.

We need more tyre manufacturers in F1 + some ground effects + refuelling (with a minimum stop time to prevent rushed accidents that got refuelling stopped in the first place)

Manual gearbox and steel brakes aren't going to be seen back in F1 until time machines are available on Amazon.

Depends what you define as a jump start, he obviously dropped the clutch before the green light thereby 'starting', the minimum reaction time is there for that reason to prevent cheating and sometimes (like this one) the cheat got found out.

F1 isn't aimed at entertaining people who've never seen an F1 race before, like Marmite you love it or hate it.

I've watched quite a few 30s GP videos on YouTube, I love that era but the drivers winning had cars that were miles better than the rest, this wierd held view that racing in the olden days was better and closer is plain wrong.

I think it's laughable that after what happened and Gasly won a race by pure chance that all of a sudden you're saying he's world champ material!

It was their job, racing drivers raced cars for a living, if they were paid the equivalent of today's millionaire F1 drivers salary they wouldn't have needed to race other classes...it didn't mean they were better, no doubt current F1 drivers could be competitive in anything and there's plenty of proof of that.

I saw an interview in which Jackie Stewart stated that he believes that F1 drivers doing nothing but Formula One is detrimental to their professional development.

In his day doing Rallying, Indy 500 and Le Mans etc. in addition to Grand Prix racing was the norm and gave them a richer variety of experience.
I don't he raced all those to enrichen his driver experience, he did it because he was competitive enough to take home prize money. If a driver is good enough to stay in F1 why would he need to do anything else?

...Mind you where does this put Alonso?
Exactly my point earlier

He doesn't need team orders, you could probably count the number of races you'd love to call wins by team orders on the thumbs of your left foot.

... Please don't ever try and say that Hamilton never took a win because of team orders because you are only fooling yourself. It has happened so many times to so many drivers so many times and Hamilton is no different.
That's funny, that's exactly the reaction that I expected also

I have to laugh really, why would anyone who doesn't like F1 have anything good to say about it, there's a few non F1 fans here obviously. I love F1 and bored to death with MotoGP, NASCAR, Indy, GT3, BTCC...etc. etc.

Thankfully there's plenty enough F1 fans to keep it on TV so we fans who do love F1 must be different to those who don't, thankfully there's something for every motorsport fan.
