Little Jack Horner has already won it I'd think.

Jack Horner is an American paleontologist who was a consultant on the Jurassic Park films.

He has been a vocal advocate of the Tyrannosaurus scavenger theory.

This has led to arguments with fellow experts such as Bob Bakker.

Two men who look like lost members of ZZ Top having a spat about dinosaurs? 🤗 😳

Who'd of thought? :p

Not much of interest going on in Eff 1 lately, but at least McLaren have fired up their new car. Only a couple of weeks before the drapes are removed from all the new GP machines, which many will find dull, but it's more interesting than the prospect of Mrs Grumpy's holiday pics.

There’s the fuss about the FIA president tweeting that $20bn is an inflated value to put on F1 (by the Saudis, allegedly) and warning potential purchasers about being careful with their money, which has prompted legal letters from Liberty telling the FIA not to damage its share price.

Another example of tension between the sanctioning body, the promoter and the franchise holders - formerly known as teams - at present.

Bernie, sorry F1 signed a 100 year commercial rights lease, wonder how he, sorry F1, got that, that runs to the end of the century. This means that the FIA has no control over who makes all the money from F1 and the only people getting richer as more money flows in are the lease holder and the FIA only get what was agreed in the lease terms.

As we all keep saying it's all about the💸. May be they should sing 💵💴 💶 at the start of each race.😂 Maybe not as that would mean paying royalties and that's money out not in.

At least they’re being open about Andretti-Cadillac. Horner’s interview this week basically said: we’re not prepared to take a pay cut, Liberty isn’t prepared to reduce its profits but the FIA is keen to see them so either they buy a team or they don’t bother.

Which is fine, until you consider the inflated level of a previously-ludicrous price tag. Who is for sale? Williams and AlphaTauri. Who is in financial trouble? Aston Martin and McLaren. And how much more loss can Gene Haas sustain before pulling the plug?

Realistically, the Andrettis have a couple of years to see which way they cards fall. Apparently there’s already a deal with Renault for engines. By the end of this year the world may look a bit different, particularly for Aston Martin I suspect.

They were the only team to register interest for 2026 within the deadline so things are much simpler than they seem.

As for the FIA-Liberty spat… Ben Sulayem’s on the horns of a bit of a dilemma.

On one side he’s FIA president and wants F1 to be held in the highest esteem. Having the Saudis buy it would damage that - possibly irreparably.

On the other side he is an Emirati royal. And the Emiratis and Saudis are joined at the hip through the Gulf Coalition, through their military action in Yemen, through their shared contempt for Qatar and their belief that they are better off long-term backing China, Russia and India than the US and Europe.

Where are all the Russian oligarchs, their mistresses and their money right now? Cramming into the malls and yacht clubs of Abu Dhabi. It’s like Center Parcs for murderous tycoons. Modern day Casablanca.

And which international sporting body alone did not straight-up ban Russian athletes? Yup… hence the WRC2 standings are now led by a Russian.

So while Ben Sulayem is terrified of the fall-out from the Saudis buying F1, he also cannot be seen to be doing anything to actively prevent their wishes being granted. And his rather muddled response to all of that was a Tweet intended to kill two birds with one stone, but which only served to annoy absolutely everyone.

Thankfully, he’s delegated everything else about the job!

F1 hasn't any esteem, they threw what was left on the bonfire that was the 2021 season with the firework display being the last race...it's a FIAsco & circus.

One might ask when was there ever…

Bandini harpooning Hill’s BRM to the benefit of ‘il Grande John’ springs to mind in the annals of controversial season finales. Or Hunt being forced to renege on a personal commitment to Lauda to pull in from Fuji after six laps. Daniele Audetto still loses sleep over that one.

To quote Mr. Bridger in The Italian Job: “Camp Freddie, everybody in the world is bent.”
