Hi,
I'm very excited and pleased to announce a new 1/32 scale F1 Chassis under development by SlotCarHeroes. A prototype chassis was recently built and is being tested over the next few weeks.

The design of this chassis was a collaborative effort done on the HRW message board. Major contributors were Elsecundo and PastTime Raceway (Thanks guys!)

Pictures shown include a vintage Strombecker guide flag (only installed for initial motor testing). However, the intended guide flag will be provided by Slot-it.

To see additional pictures and to learn about the "Project Scope" , please click HERE

If you have an interest in these chassis, we are taking pre-orders and we'd like to hear from you. Please send e-mails to:

[email protected]

Thanks!

Very nice design, Tim! I particularly like the fact that the chassis is laser cut from stainless steel. Pity the production models won't be ready in time for Fate's 60s F1 proxy race. Perhaps you could consider entering the prototype yourself?

Nico, where I obtain an updated list with pictures of the 1/32nd scale Resilient Resin bodies? Unfortunately their website hasn't been updated. I've seen their 1/32nd F1 Lotus 25 and Cooper T60 listed on eBay, but no pictures of the actual bodies.

Kind regards

Russell

They look very neat Tim. I will be interested in your final price and the various options you offer. Also glad to see you've got rid of the guide flag, although I would rather use the TSRF Scalex/Fly replacement guide than the Slot.it one, as it has superior profile and better wire mounting.

Regards

Russ,
to be honest, both Doug and I are still behind with our homepages as the demand keeps rising (1/24 and 1/32).
I am in preperation of the 1/32 part of Resilient Resins bodys on my homepage.
I will post in this forum as soon as I am online with this part.
Until than keep on asking me (or Doug).

Thanks,
Nico

Hi Guys!
Thanks so much for your compliments! The response has been tremendous so far.

I haven't seen the resilient resin F1's... so I don't know with all certainty. However, we did have the Fiberglass F1 bodies by Charlie Fitzpatrick (ABSlots)in mind. I was loaned 4 F1 bodies last year, made some measurements and took photo's with a measuring rule next to the body so that when I was ready I could go forward with this project.

As pricing goes, this is a budget-minded chassis, and keeping it on budget was one of our mandates from start to finish. We will be offering the chassis in various packages; fully assembled, partially assembled, and in kit form. Our target for pricing is between $18.00 and $30.00 for the various packages (minus wheels & tires).

At this early date, the number of pre-orders are higher than anticipated, so I will contact the fabricator today and see what we can do to speed things up.

Keep those pre-orders coming... it really does help! Send your pre-orders to the following e-mail address:

[email protected]

Thanks!

Just want to give everyone a quick update;

I've contacted the fabricator this morning to see if we can push more quickly on production. I have to send them an updated set of drawings, and then he's going to give me a quote today.

Now hold on to your pants... we could have 200+ chassis, in-house, packaged and available for shipment by Monday, August 30th.

See! Your pre-orders really do have power! Keep 'em coming!

Send your pre-orders to this e-mail address:

[email protected]

Thanks again!

This chassis could be a godsend for a novice like me who follows the progress of the F1 Proxy with great admiration and just a touch of envy

I have neither the skills or the inclination to become involved with chassis design and construction but would love to have a go at adding a few classic F1's to my collection.

I will continue to watch this thread with interest.

Hi,
Just an update, I conducted an RPM/Current test yesterday, and will post results shortly.

I have some more pictures to share. Here's how an Airfix Jag looks resting on the chassis;

The tires are a bit large (diameter wise), but you get the general idea...

Plenty of clearance above the motor for a vacuum-formed interior tray (which I'm planning to offer a little later)

The Aston Martin works too, but I'll do pictures of that another time (too much going on right now)

Just want to let everyone know I'm still taking pre-orders, and will continue through to Friday, August 27th. So if you're interested, please let me know by sending me an e-mail to;

[email protected]

Thanks!

Want to say 'THANK YOU' to all those that have made pre-orders this week. The response has been just wonderful, can't tell you how much I appreciate your support, it means a lot to me.

We've received the quote from the fabricator today… and the cost to cut the parts is greater than originally anticipated. There are many factors involved with the cost increase. The price of material I have been told has risen 2.5 times since this time last year. Added to this, the complexity of this design, and smallness of the parts, the laser-cutter is re-configured for lower wattage, and lower operating speed to accommodate the precise cutting that is required.

In addition, to keep the parts together and improve quality control during the cutting process, the parts will remain attached on a spur or tree, similar to those that you find in plastic model kits. This spur or tree facilitates the ease for which the product can be packaged & sold in kit form as well.

Because of the higher-than-anticipated fabricating costs, I must apologize that we cannot meet our original pricing goals. And as I feel obligated to try and give you the best possible price, we have reduced our mark-up as much as possible for the initial product introduction.

We know that you've all been waiting anxiously for a budget-minded F1 chassis to come along, and I hope that all of you that have pre-ordered will stay with us. Additional pre-orders are still needed to make up production costs, and hope now that the price is known more people will join and want one or more of these great chassis.

See price and descriptions below.

Tim Johnson

The price of steel certainly has gone up. China has been buying in bulk leaving a genuine shortage in the West.
The company I work for manufactures exhaust and filtration systems, our steel purchasing costs had risen 13% in the first 6 months of 2004.

Hello Everyone,

To those that have made pre-orders for this chassis, I need for you to respond to the e-mail I sent out yesterday, and have you confirm your orders please, as soon as possible.

No payments are due until I'm sure we have adequate orders to start the fabrication process. I just need to know which item #'s you're interested in, and in what quantities for now. I'll notify everyone later on when payment is due.

It's crunch time, and I have "Go" fever... can't help it. This is an exciting product. I feel like we're in Mission Control, sending Apollo Astronauts to the moon. And now I'm asking all YOU flight controllers out there to give me a "GO" or "NO GO" for launch.

If we want to make the tentative August 30th release date, I need to call the fabricator tomorrow... but I need all of your order confirmations first.

Thanks!

We are almost there... the finish line is in site-- way to go guys!

Just need the remaining pre-orders to confirm what they would like to purchase, and add just a few more new orders by tomorrow morning and we could still make our tentative release date of August 30th.

Good morning (evening) to everyone,

Wish to thank everybody that's placed a pre-order with us this week. We have nearly met our minimum pre-order goal to begin the fabrication process!!!

On average, the highest pre-ordered item is the #800-03, F1 Chassis, Parts Kit #2 ($37.50)

Edit 8/19/04: To meet our minimum goal for fabrication, (as an example) we need 5 more pre-orders of the 800-03's.

JUST 5 MORE

We're still accepting pre-orders for this new and exciting chassis so that we can start the fabrication process. If we fullfill our need for pre-orders, we can start manufacturing right away. Our public release date is now pending the completion of pre-orders, but we could see this chassis available in early September.

Keep those pre-orders coming!

You can send your pre-order to:
[email protected]

Thanks!

Tim Johnson
