The BEEB has only got half the races Dad.
The rest will be highlights only, they`ll also show qualifying. How long before the BEEB loses out altogether?
I think it is bad news when the majority of the coverage goes to pay TV....there are other obvious reasons why I don`t like this deal with Sky.
Cheers
Kev
Remember test match cricket on the BBC anybody? What happened to that and corresponding public interest in the five-day game? Oh yes, I remember now...
I am struggling to see how Sky will benefit from it as at least 50% of the current BBC viewers will not be watching it on Sky, me being one of them. F1 was on the up recently but this will surely kill it off in years to come
So am I right in thinking they now have F1, NASCAR, Indy, DTM? What's next? Soon we won't have any choice but to subscribe if we want to watch motorsport....
Can,t pay won,t pay good bye F1. Pay frozen, Pension costs up , inflation up car tax up heating bills up, Dropped basic sky two years ago to try to make ends meet.

So I won't be watching it (on TV) then
Well.....
Absolutely disgusting... I could not believe my ears this morning - I thought the BEEB had about a six year deal and there was a stink over the large fee, sounds like they sold some off to Murdoch... horrible. I only hope some one picks this up and runs a campaign. The Government sells off the terestial bandwidth for billions forcing us to fit dishes [no digital terrestial here... too many mountains], no compensation.. then we find we have to cough-up to a media billionaire to be able to see anything, every sport is bought-out by a dominant monopoly who is then free to extract whatever fee's they want from a captive market..... why bother. I scrapped my sky subscription years ago after seeing the fees go on a relentless spiral, I did not like paying Murdoch ~£300/year, when it went to >£550/year I just drew the line...... stinks.
Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone told BBC Sport: "It's super for F1. It will mean a lot more coverage for the sport.
"There'll be highlights as well as live coverage on two different networks now, so we get the best of both worlds."
I think he means HE gets the best of both worlds.
