Just got back from the Slot Festival.
I had an excellent time.
Nice to meet some of the faces from SF.
I thought the HO guys in particular had made a most impressive effort with their fast track.
Thanks to everyone who made it a great day.
Cheers,
Kev

It was a truly brilliant day out!

I spent the morning racing in the HO GP that was great fun, and I'm glad the HO community impressed you Kev!

I was hoping to check out some of the heritage motor centre while I was there. As it turned out I spent the whole afternoon playing on the marvellous selection of tracks and cars! I particularly enjoyed the Pioneer test track, if those guys could have taken my credit card...

It was fun to try the SCX digital system too and I had a good race on there with Zarko. Trying some 1:24 stuff was also very interesting, the Scaleauto 1:24 cars being particularly impressive engineered.

The various 1:43 cars were also interesting as I have not tried that scale before. I think the range of scales available provides us with plenty of choice in terms of cost/space/detail etc. Surely great news for getting as many people interested in the hobby as possible.

Overall it was great to see so many people there and all enjoying slot racing!

Aye there was some good tracks on show Al.
I only spent half an hour in the museum...most of the time I was sniffing out vintage stuff in the swap meet.
Only tiny criticism I had was maybe the swapmeet could have been in a bigger room?
Cheers,
Kev.

It was a great day out, all except the queue at 10am in a 40mph wind and my coat left at home....

Julian, sorry I missed you - there were no Husky T shirt wearers when I looked around.

Thanks to Dave who let me try out his track and fine collection of Pioneer cars, I had nerves of steel to only buy one. I took my car around the track, the one I designed and built from scratch. Then Dave took it around, and he designed and built the track from scratch. And then a 13 year old kid tried the car and within half a lap he was faster than either of us. Racing talent, you've either got it or you haven't

Agree that the swapmeet could have done with more space, but hopefully the traders there had a good day.

Awesome day, didn't really know what to expect.

Lots of great tracks and a great atmosphere, sadly a blow for scalextric in the manufactures race.

Grabbed a few bargains in the swap meet.

All in all a great Sunday, Well done to everyone involved. Hope it happens again next year!

Fantastic day out! Was awesome to meet Kev aka Loosesalute although I will admit I was struggling with your impressive accent!

I had a pretty good run in the HO GP: 4th in the open wheel and then 3rd in Nascar in the afternoon was good.

I only had time for a quick 20 minute run round the museum and two quick sprints through the rest of the exhibits. Bit disappointed that I didn't get to try out any 1/24, 1/32 or 1/43rd (those DNanos looked lovely) but hey ho, there is always next year.

Cheers

No worries, I wasn't wearing the Husky T shirt as I couldn't find it in my hurried exit from the house on Saturday and the battery was flat on my phone so I couldn't ring you.
I was very good and only bought 1 car, an SCX Alpine Renault BNIB for £15.

Kev,

As I had very little to do with it being so I can express gratitude for your comments whilst agreeing 100% with the sentiment. The HO guys really rose to the challenge and I am proud of them, the HO zone looked amazing and for most of the day we had people flowing through (many with their jaws on the ground
).

Thanks to Sean and co for giving us the shot.

For sure the Festival will happen again next year, right?

Great Event. I even saw one person I hadn't see since his daughter was born and she is now 17...

Well done to Julie @ Scale Models and Sean @ Pendle a job very well done.

Racers went home happy and there were more than enough people with wallets for the stall holders!! If they didn't sell stuff there...

I didn't even get round it all either! Too many people to talk to.
