Just got back from the Slot Festival.
I had an excellent time.
Nice to meet some of the faces from SF.
I thought the HO guys in particular had made a most impressive effort with their fast track.
Thanks to everyone who made it a great day.
Cheers,
Kev

QUOTE (Mr Croker @ 23 May 2011, 13:36) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Well done to Julie @ Scale Models and Sean @ Pendle a job very well done.
Well done indeed. Although it was a slightly larger organising committee than that, ie Steve Cannon and Roger Barker.

I hope this becomes the permanent home of the annual 'super event' as I think it is a better venue than Brooklands or Donington and it is too much for the organisers to keep finding a new venue every year.

Robert
I liked the venue too, and the indoors aspect made the event a lot less weather dependent.

Good sentiments and I understand the reasoning, but there is something about Brooklands that - for me - makes it an extra special day out, plus whilst there may not be as much indoor space as Gaydon, there is still a significant amount and for the extra 'dry' space required, how about erecting a marquee :?:

Just a thought.
Talking of a venue at Brooklands, the extra journey down to Gaydon (compared to Donnington) put loads of NERCS members off going.
It`s fine wanting Brooklands if you live down South, but not everyone does.

Kev

A fantastic event in a great location!

Well done to all who worked so hard to bring it to life.

It was a superb way to display the diverse elements that make up the slot car hobby.

It would be interesting to know Gaydon's reaction to the turnout. It looked like their car parking facilities were a bit stretched to say the least, so perhaps they will be more than keen to see it as a regular event. Let's hope so!

Ey Up our Ian,

Very few know that my dad flew Lysanders towards the end of the war !!,

even fewer know that he had and was a great Morgan "flatrad" fan.

That was a particularly good shot. I will give him a copy, and he will be "made up", thanks Ian, really.

vbr Chris.
What a cracking event and, like everyone else here, I really hope it becomes a regular thing. I think the niggles I had were a function of it being the first time there (queueing in the Siberian wind and not enough space around the vendors's tables) but they were also caused by the event being so popular so that's also a good thing! I got three cars I'm very happy with (Ninco Speed Trial Corvette, SCX Alpine - not the £15 one that everyone here seemed to find!! - and Slot.it GT40) and spent a lot of time playing on the various tracks - especially the BSCRA track. I've never raced that type of slot car before so it was a complete revelation for me - brilliant stuff and I think I'm hooked. A great day and thanks very much to everyone who organised and ran the event - looking forward to next year already.
lots of bargains if you could move round to see them! Unfortunately got my SCX R10 out the box last night to find the chassis has a big crack through it, Suppose i should of checked it their.

Is it best to leave it or glue it?
Maybe, but I dont know what trader it was off to be honest.

Anyway i dont want this to go off topic, because it was an awesome event.

For me the venue is behind Donnington and Brooklands, It was a great event but too cramped and hard to find things, Maybe a plan would have helped?. I know it is hard to find a venue to suit all but this was a hell of a treck if you came from the east. Would like to see all three venues used in rotation. Having said that it was a great show for slotcars.
