Jimmy Attard (AC2Car creator and slot car renaissance man) shared some pictures recently of a beautiful Indy press tower and scoring pylon he's created for SlotMods that I thought was worth sharing. Jimmy said this was going into a track in Indianapolis.

Great work Jimmy.

On the scoring tower, Jimmy wrote this " It's a static model illuminating the final field placement in 66. I had to hand drill each number.
By drilling into the plexiglas tower I cut through the black paint and into the clear plexy. Each drilled hole glows when the yellow tinted christmas lights inside come on."

A lot of Jimmy's work and Slot Mods work is featured in Model Car Racing - I am always astounded when I see it! If I ever won the lottery - they would build me a replica of Le Mans for sure!!!!

Superb.......

QUOTE (knoath @ 30 Aug 2011, 02:00) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Incredible! I guess the trick is to make it look real, but not so real that you can't tell it's a model, but so real looking that you really have to look twice!

Truly an amzing display of patience!

It is always interesting speaking to a high level modeler (Jimmy or Spa Modeller usually in my case) about these things. Most of the conversation typically revolves around how something was (or could be) compressed to look convincing in a particular layout and the importance of the visual interaction of the subject with moving slot cars. I always get the impression that the nuts and bolts of the creation is of secondary interest.
