I think I need a degree in electronics even to read that Alan, and the thread about SCX engine servicing & cleaning for Martyn last week, was I confused? Blimey!

I must say I, like I think everybody, thought your timing was second to none, absolutely fantastic.

I realise I must be tho only plonker that:

a) runs the engine that comes with the car when purchased
runs a standard parma controller with only a trigger
c) never know if a track has brakes or not, I just drive 'em!

Probably why I never win then.........(before you say anything Martyn)

Howabout a stage with a standard boxed car, tyres etc. (obviously no magnet) and basic controller for everybody to use just for a laugh?

Damn, I thought I was discreet with the Badger fur! Just shows you did not see the Squirrel hair of Fox brush on the night stage, howdoyafink I beat you???

Tholt-y-will is no more and Ryan has sold his swing bridge, but we do have a "flying leap" and plenty of raid track to use plus of course some sand & pebbles from Port Erin Beach leftover. So some sticky NSR's and a ton of weight for our Pajero's and we stand a chance..
Hi Gareth

Thanks for the info. Count Dave, Ryan and myself in for a drink or meal if anybody else prefers on Saturday night.

Chris
I am sure everybody has had an email from them, but just in case...a popular slot seb site are selling the Lotus Rally car at £19.99, bargain! Not sure what class though, Modified I guess?
Well Driver #8, I have a Ninco timer I can bring rather than a stopwatch.

Chris
Does anybody have any hints as to how to keep a 4wd band on Subaru's and Focus's?

I have spare genuine Ninco 70241 bands which I have used, as both my original Subaru & Focus bands have the same problem half way through practising of coming off and I have changed them for newer ones but same problem occurs. Are the Avant Slot bands any better?

I understand if the 4wd is not operating on a 4wd car in Slot Rally, it will be excluded. Is this still the case between stages? I find it handles worse without a band to make it 4wd so it would be my disadvantage. I have tried a tighter rubber band which works and does not come off but is it within the rules? I know oil on the band stretches it (as I found out the hard way) and I try to prevent oil contamination when oiling the bearings etc. but cannot be certain oil will not get on the band during racing.

Anybody want to reveal any remedies or is it only me this occurs to?

Cheers,

Chris.

At £115.00 for a Octane Slot Rally car, it can stay in Pro Stock!

Thanks for the info Matt & guys about the bands. My belts are N70241 so will try Ninco 80207, might be better fit. Will check everything is alligned as great cars to rally, but which one? So far the Focus has the edge, will test at Farnham!

Chris
Thanks Phil, yes I found that one out the hard way!

I have the newer bands on now which are tighter and seemed to have solved my issues. Will try out at Farnham.

Chris
Blimey this game is getting technical! Changing engines because of tracks might have/not brakes?

I know I am still a novice at Slot Rally but surely some cars run better on some tracks than others, this enhances the challenge of different tracks at different venues which I thought was the whole point of the fun factor at Slot Rally?

Maybe it's not just fun for some people and some do take it very seriously I know, and each to their own on that one I suppose. (probably why they are at the top of championships and I am not!)

I just race each track as it comes and adjust my driving to each circuit and if I get a good run, or a bad run, c'est la vie, it's the same for everybody. Telling me if a track has brakes or not makes no difference but maybe my opinion on that one will change as time goes on!

Look forward to meeting up with you all at Farnham again with the 3 legs of Man, Dave C, Ryan K and myself. Oh, and I will bring details of the Manx round for 2013. Some good news to give you, hopefully. See you all in 9 days!

Wit? Moi?

Looking forward to some fun & frolics, although this weather had better turn or Ryan might be a bit green by the time we get there!

See you Sunday morning, bright and early.
Well Julian, you don't have to contend with the Irish Sea like we do but luckily the wind has dropped, so at least Ryan won't be so grog, which is a shame 'cos he will be harder to beat now!

Of course if you wish to venture to the IOM next April 20/21 you will see for yourself what our crossing can be like, but I have a long forecast for that weekend and it will be very smooth!

All details about the Manx event can be found on the SlotForum-community forums-events-IOM Manx Slot Rally GB. If I knew how to copy the link it would be good of course, maybe somebody could help me out here? I also have some leaflets with details on I am bringing Sunday.

Have a safe trip and anyway as an ex rally driver surely you can handle any weather condition?

Chris

Thanks to Gareth, Lawrence and the team for putting on a great event on Sunday.

A good mix of tracks and great atmosphere in the room (apart from the TV!) made for a fantastic fun days racing.

The 3 legs of Man came away with a 4th, 5th & 6th so can't complain. Here's to Wolves

Sorry Dave, could have been worse, could have got third place if the XK didn't get stuck in the join on the otherwise excellent Car Park Stage losing me nearly 10 seconds, my not as quick 959 was 7 seconds quicker! I am sure everybody has an if/but situation, so that's the way it goes!

You failed to mention that 2 of your classics were beaten and your mod4wd car were beaten by Toby Attrill, how old was he again? I am glad he doesn't do too many rounds as I think a lot more of us will succumb to his steady smooth driving someday otherwise.

I'll start walking to Wales now.................

Oh, and it's only 12 weeks to Wales in January after the November round

Hi everyone.

For those who did not pick up any details at Farnham about the 2013 IOM event, I have updated the thread and Gareth has added a link on page 11 of this one. Any questions please PM me. More details will be available at Wales. Chris.
