Thanks to all the team at Farnham for the help over the Saturday and Sunday - be prepared to put in some more grunt work on Wednesday night to organised the club room - it's a mess.
A big thanks to Gareth who did more than most, as he was doing all the scores by himself - the planned Saturday running of Gareth and myself didn't happen.
Thanks to all the competitors who turned up and raced in the spirit of Slotrally, and thanks to Phil, Dave and Keith who provided a warm welcome to my son of his first proper slot rally event - much appreciated!
I've added my own personal opinion about today as a blog posting as well.
Well done Farnham, event went smoothly with some interesting stages. Wel done to Phil b, Phil f for beating me and also young mr field who showed us old uns how to race a nsr 997. All to play for a wye but will need to drive quicker!
It was very interesting to compare the Scalextric and SCX Fiesta WRCs throughout the event. Both were unwrapped, unboxed, unmagged and put on the track. A full report will follow in the Slot Rally and Raid section.
A grand day out, and very nice to put some more faces to names/forum monikers.
Well done all for your hard work in putting on the event. Good food and a good pint of Fuller's just put the tin lid on the day.
Just wish I hadn't driven so badly.
Thanks to Gareth and the rest of the Farnham guys for hosting yet another great Slotrally round
Nice mix of tracks most quite quick as well. Raid one looked daunting. Drop wasn't as bad as I initially thought, had more problems at other end of track on tight right hander at top of hill. Also enjoyed Gareth's Scenic stage and the other Ninco Stage next to Raid track
Well done to all the Podium place finishers and thanks to everyone that turned up to compete
Thanks also to Phil and Nick for Video and photo's
A big thanks to all at Farnham for the massive effort put in and the smooth running on the day, it was really enjoyable. And a special thanks to Gareth for the prompt results.
Clearly team orders in the Manx team were not adhered to in the Classic class, as Chris's XK120 pipped my Fiat 131 for 5th place in Classic, so my points total was not improved during the weekend....
Hey ho....
I did threaten to leave him behind to make his own way home in the rain on Sunday night, however!
We should have a team of 4 at Wye valley, so must try and squeeze another couple of seconds per stage out of my cars for that event.
I can't believe it'll all be over again for another year in less than 6 weeks!
Sorry Dave, could have been worse, could have got third place if the XK didn't get stuck in the join on the otherwise excellent Car Park Stage losing me nearly 10 seconds, my not as quick 959 was 7 seconds quicker! I am sure everybody has an if/but situation, so that's the way it goes!
You failed to mention that 2 of your classics were beaten and your mod4wd car were beaten by Toby Attrill, how old was he again? I am glad he doesn't do too many rounds as I think a lot more of us will succumb to his steady smooth driving someday otherwise.
I'll start walking to Wales now.................
Oh, and it's only 12 weeks to Wales in January after the November round
Interesting to see that young Toby was only 1 second ahead of me overall at the end of the day after a disaster on my own track and losing 17 seconds to him. Note to self, check braids before running car!!
Well done to all those involved in organising the day. We had fun in our group not taking it too serious. Each to their own.
Well done to all trophy winners and a big thanks to all concerned in putting on the event a special thanks to Gareth who worked hard all day inputting the lap times.
See you all at Abergavenny.
