[Gaugemaster Controls]

Has anyone experienced any problems with the rear axles of the above cars? Even if you have posted this info elsewhere, please post it again here so I can collect all the info together for Fly.

yep my wheels fell off my 3.5, I eventually got a daytona it is not going anywhere near the track... scared of mashing it.

other than that nice car, any other points? yes infact, stop making the interiors so heavy!

I`ve seen around four of each rolling around the club circuit without a problem. There seems to be more silicon content in the tyres of the Ferrari and I thought that may be a problem run as a magnet car as the grip is tremendous and the poor old gear might feel the strain? The CSL is very quick and both cars seem able to take some punishing `offs`

GC, my Beemer lost a wheel on my poxy little two straight, two dragster turn circuit. When I investigated it appeared that the axle was way short - if I pushed the hub back on all the way, the inside would be rubbing on the chassis.

While we are at it, I had a bad week this one gone, my Cartrix NSX suddenly sloooowed at the Oxford track and both wheels were found to be loose. I guess our track is too bumpy.

"Things come in threes", old ma Wankel used to say. Nervous about my Daytona now but she'll not become a shelf queen - that's the Daytona, not my mum.

wankel, I remember (when I were young and the grass were green

) last year after the donnington meet I bought a cartrix hyundai, to 3.9's amusement I was happily hurling it round wrexham then I came to floor the throttle on the main stright and the rear wheels simply over took the car hmm

and the short axle yeah thats why my wheels fell off, I then remedied it with the use of 2 of my favourite implements, a hammer and pliers fixed... almost, aaron kindly send me a new one so

I'm nog having trouble with the rear axles...

But i do have real trouble with both of the front wheels...
I purchased the car and after ten rounds the front left wheel broke off...
I had it fixed it, glued the thingy where the little front axles goes in back together... and yesterday the front right wheel broke off... it was also the thingy where the little front axles goes in that was broken off...

Both of the wheels came off while cruisin down the straight line...

A little glue on any Fly prop-shaft is a given.

I think, as with wheels parting company swiftly, it is down to too much grunt meeting too much magnet too quickly.

A good argument against mugnuts in my book!

I'm sorry, but due to the health and safety regulations regarding hammers and the appropriate use of such I am not qualified to accurately comment on hammer usage in a thread such as this. One has to consider the power to weight ratio against the angle of dangle and it becomes far too technical for me.

I did think that it might be worthwhile for Fly and other manufacturers to insert a small leaflet on basic car prep in with each model? The prop shaft popping out is common but easily solved and a small note of tuning tips may go down well?

Hmmmm. You may be on to something there Jonny. I cannot see the manufacturers doing anything to be totally honest, but there may be a place for a leaflet that the retailers could give out with their cars. For the cost of an A4 photocopy, this would be great customer service. Do any of you retailers out there do this at the moment?

it would be good to include a service sheet type thing as I see,hear,read about people having problems with the motor shafts.

I see several separate but related points here.

1. Factual observation: The prop shaft popping out is common but easily solved.
2. Suggestion: A small leaflet on basic car prep in with each model.
3. Suggestion: A small note of tuning tips.

All good stuff.

2 and 3 might be seen as overlapping.

1. Prop shaft popping clearly needs to be addressed by the manufacturer.
   It IS easily solved and should be.
2. A note on how the customer might fix it is one way of 'dealing with it'.
   But eliminating this very common basic problem, at the factory, would obviously be peferable in every way.
3. A nice idea that Fly, rather than the dealers, might also consider 'for the cost of a photocopy'.
   It would be a nice gesture and a neat bit of 'one-upmanship' on Fly's part.

There are many slot car manufacturers, and so there is no reason why Fly should be the only ones to adopt this policy, especially since different cars may need different instructions. I believe that this is a dealer product - after all, every dealer wants his or her customers to buy from them again, so why not make a general sheet up to give away with each slot car purchase?

I have an idea - see another thread entitled 'Hints & Tips Sheet'.....
