The F2004 is the fiftieth car built by Ferrari to compete in the Formula 1 World Championship. The project, which goes by the code number 655, represents a further evolution of the concepts already seen in the F2003-GA. However, every element of the car has been completely redesigned in an attempt to create the best environment to get the most out of the new 053 engine and the Bridgestone tyres.

Looks like Ferrari nicked Toyota's press release and merely substituted "Toyota" with "Ferrari"!

I couldn't possibly comment.

However, who or what is the sinister shadow with no body standing behind the rear wing?

Is it the ghost of old man Enzo himself, or a sign that Michael has sold his soul to the Devil in return for his unworldly talent.

Just look at all that beautiful cigarette advertising! It really makes me want to start smoking 20 a day at least!!
NOT!

Perhaps the shadow is the new template for checking the height of the rear wing? In a bid to further slow the cars down, FIA are now employing vertically challenged scrutineers

I hate to be a killjoy having seen that lovely slotcar JohnP but according to Ferrari the final car will appear at Melbourne with new turning vanes and front wing. Mind you'll have a test car and the opportunity to build a race version as well !!

David is right; in a long TV report they said that the real F2004 will have many features not shown today. They fear other F1 builders would copy their efforts.
Btw F1 cars change often during the season, so also this " press show model" has some appeal.
Ciao

Schumi sets track record in new Ferrari
A 56.279 for the German

World champion Michael Schumacher set a new track record at the Italian team's testing circuit on Saturday behind the wheel of the new Ferrari.

The German record-breaker, aiming for a seventh Formula One Championship this year, beat the record he set 24 hours earlier in the new F2004 with a time of 56.279 seconds. On Friday, Schumacher broke the record set last year by the F2003 GA with a time of 56.835.

According to the BBCs website, it's traditional for the new Ferrari to break the lap record every year.

You can't read too much into it - yet!

Yes, during the 18-year "crossing of the desert" they did that to keep the Old Man quiet as long as possible - but not now !
