Here in Italy my car, and also the others I've seen, have no brakes; my question : is there any car with brakes? Only here in SF I have known that they existed somewhere in the world, but I think this is a bad spot for Fly; I will buy other FLY cars only when sure they are complete. Moreover my Ferrari has many paint and decals faults: perhaps it was built in a new factory by inexperienced workers? Anyhow a very bad example of quality control at all.

Sprint, I cannot comment on your Ferrari, nor can I speak for the retailer or distributor that you purchased your car from, but my question is... have you returned it for exchange? If not, then you have no reason to complain, as if it is as bad as you say then no-one who spent money would accept that level of workmanship. If you have had it exchanged, then your problem is solved and you still have no reason for complaint.

Everything manufactured in the world will have occasional hiccups and quality control will miss the occasional model. Sometimes different people have different ideas of how good an item should be to pass quality control.

The Ferrari missing disc brakes are the first time I have known a part missing from a car since Fly began, so it is ridiculous to start quoting that
QUOTE I will buy other FLY cars only when sure they are complete
as if you had not read this forum you would not have known that your Ferrari was not complete in the first place!! At least Fly have come clean and offered these parts which you can fit very easily, all you have to do is contact your distributor and he will send them to you.

Aaron, first of all let me say I think you are a kind person and your service is very good; but the problem is still here. I don't want to begin here another long story, but I consider myself a "good purchaser" of slot cars, and as my level of knowledege has increased, so have my expectations. In the real world if you buy a cheap car ( you name it) you can tolerate some faults, big or small; but if you buy a Jaguar, a BMW or a Rolls, your level of allowance, also for a small flaw will be very small. Car magazines are full of complaints, and nobody will ever protest.
I have in my collection many and many Fly cars ( more than my wife will ever know!
), and I think they are among the best; but I have carefully examined at least ten Ferrari in my favourite shop here, and all had little dust in the paint, scratches in the blue stripes, also non very well aligned (and then I didn't know the brake problem). I report what I have seen, and I have bought the model; but my level of confidence is a bit lower today than yesterday. I hope Fly will regain it : I am here to buy good models.

Sprint, I have great difficulty believing that your car is as bad as you described it, because if it is that bad and I had purchased it I would be taking it back to the shop very quickly for my money back or a new model.

And posts like this create a problem. To be fair to Sprint, he is just one member that I selected to press home a point, and I apologise for making him the scapegoat, but there are many forum members who are very quick to complain about problems they have with cars, but do not seem to be so quick to do anything about it. If 100 of you, just as an example, all had the same problem and all returned the models to your shops, the shops would send them back to the distributors, the distributors would send them back to the manufacturers or at least tell the manufacturers what was going on in order to avoid a repeat of the same problem. If you don't take any action, then you cannot expect change, as the manufacturers will simply not believe they have a problem.

Can you see what I mean? I am not saying to everyone make a fuss, I am simply applying the rules that I have when making a purchase of anything - slotcar, real car, washing machine, whatever - if it is not right then I want it put right or exchanged or I want my money back. Don't you?

I agree with you, Aaron, but I am a bit fatalist, and this is one very small problem, so I don't want to ask someone, send something, wait a reply from people who are neither aware of the problem nor eager to respond; in Italy slot market is only a fraction ( I think very small, of the modeller's market ); I have thought that pointing at the defects we find in the models we buy, is a way to indicate to the makers that we desire always better models, and that possible faults need to be corrected. If I could find the time I will post to you some pictures of my Daytona.
All the best.

It seems Sprint that you need more dealers like we have here in the UK!

However, please send me the pictures and I will see if I can help. If you are having problems with your local dealer, why not try Sean at Pendle Slot Racing or Gary at MRE? They both post on SlotForum and will ship worldwide, and with the backup help they will give it may well be worth the extra couple of pounds to make sure you are totally happy with your purchase.

There is a spin off from what I said earlier, and that is that if you find you are happy with your purchase or the service from a dealer then email the manufacturer and let them know! Nothing pleases manufacturers more than praise about their product or the dealers who are selling them, and every bit of goodwill helps toward getting what we all want - quality and service. If you are unsure of any of the email addresses then go to any dealers website or the Gaugemaster site and they will have links to the manufacturers webpage.

On the subject of not returning faulty cars, there are 2 major dis-incentives for me:

1: most are bought mail order from GS, Pendle or MRE, so there is the hassle factor/expense of packaging and posting. This is a minor point, but still an issue

2: by the time faults appear, the car has often been lubricated, tyres trued, loose bits glued, magnet configuration modified etc etc, ie it is no longer 'as new' in other respects.

Again - this second point might not matter much with the above dealers, but -
a) i haven't tested it,

and
not every slot buyer is necessarily buying from these places, or knowledgeable enough to know whether the dealers would laugh in their face in this instance. Especially as these are toys in some sense of the words, and most toys you have to put up with a lot of foibles, or throw them away.

On the plus point, I don't really think any of my Fly or other slot cars have had strong enough faults to really test this issue.

But I don't think the lack of returns should be taken as proof of lack of serious faults.

Too bad it doesn't work the other way around. I wish I could go to the manufacturers site and find out who the local distributor is here.

EDIT: Thanks to Aaron, I now know who the Canadian distributor is!
But it shouldn't take contact with a UK distributor to find out!

Gunther, Scott and Jamie - glad to have been able to help.

Philippe - I have temporarily run out - you needed 50 sets, so there are about 40 on the way in the post today, and I will send the rest on as soon as I get them from Fly.

Hi all; I have bought another Fly Daytona, the red/yellow one and this has brake discs! And it is also much better built, without noticeable faults; I have to say that it runs very well on the track too
;
BUT : it's not a ferraracci, it's only a Daytona ( here in ITALY !)
;
dear friends, this is a mad world : here, in the homeland of ferraracci, we are not able to purchase a model named ferraracci. My two models have not prancing horses on the body nor the ferraracci name on them, and also on the box the cars are named only as Daytona and the ferraracci name was deleted also from the boxes. Yes, money is the name of the engine that pushes things forward, but I think it's a shame, and we have reached a very low point!
P.S. from this moment onward I will only use the name ferraracci, because I don't want, nor was permitted, to make publicity to them.
