Nice review - thanks Nick.

Like you i was ammazed at the tampo on this model - when i first got mine i thought - oh i have a tampo printing error car, best get another for the collection - but no they are all like this. Basically an entire white pass has been missed in the printing (i.e. before the Vodafone logo went down).

There are a fairly limitless number or liveries for the Punto in the real world - and certainly the IRC - so hopefully we'll see a few more. Certainly the performance should get this little 'un a good following.

There's also Kimi Raikkonen's car to be done, paisley pattern and all!

Great Review Nick, and a big welcome to the "New" Fly era. This looks great and as Nick pointed out in the review Fly seam to have binned all of the things that made their cars shelf queens and not track cars.

I now look forward to seeing more from Fly

Surely with the massive error with the tampo printing this should be a 'factory second' and sold accordingly, not at a full retail price of £30.

Truthfully, had this error not been pointed out, I would have been none the wiser. I'm sure there are lots of people who would also be unaware or happy to purchase regardless; no need to sell as faulty. Having said this, I can imagine a few of these will be sold at a discount in a few months.

Well as I said this model's got more than enough charm to overlook the tampo problem, so much so in fact that I've now got the sister car. I've corrected the only remaining error in the finish, filling in the front vents and grilles, the window pillars and rear spoiler in black, and this one is spot-on...






Besides, I never need much of an excuse for a relivery. Results to follow as and when...

I'm not really into buying rally cars - I'm more an F1 and Sports car racing fan. I don't know, I'm kinda sad to hear that this, and I wonder if other future FLY or FlySlot cars will lack some of the great details that made us fans of FLY's cars to begin with. No full interior, poor tampo printing, less details... I know these things don't increase the speed, or handling, but they are the neat things that make us choose one brand over another. Not all of us in the hobby are out and out speed freaks. Still, I believe it's more important that a slot car that runs well, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy the added realism to a model.

Much of the detail and finish that we see in the best cars of today (ie: Sideways, Racer and Slot.it, etc.) can be attributed to FLY starting that trend. These companies managed to give better performance and keep the cool details. Maybe I'm being a bit nostalgic, and I hate to see the company that got me interested in getting into the hobby, is now gone - or at least a shadow of it's former self. Oh well.

In Fly's defence, it announced the range that the Punto comes from was in a separate 'fun' range. My bad not to point that out. Soon to follow: yet another Porsche 911 GT3 RSR - although this time I hope we get the Flying Lizard colours.

On track the Punto delivered in spades. And at a cheaper price than Ninco or Scalextric non-detailed or 'impact resistant' models. You get a competition car. With minimal work it will be a showstopper.

Yes, I will always go for the model that looks closest to its 1:1 stablemate BUT not at the cost of enjoying my hobby. Fly(slot) hit the nail on the head with this car: great bodywork, great motor, great handling. Yes it was flawed but not in any way that would make me regret handing over my cash or look forward to the next release.

The Punto puts Fly(slot) in the top three as far as I'm concerned.
