actually based on the gossip i've heard, a Fly GT-40 will be on ebay by the end of the week!
(can't say which one yet...my source wouldn't be too pleased).

cheers, Ken R

BTW, this same source tells me Jacques Villeneuve will be driving for Williams next year!

Hello everybody !

A new member 'round here !

The SACHS capri is already out (got it last friday). Regarding the GT40, if it is to appear on Ebay, you should check the auctions from "Sphobbies". Curro is always the first on the ball !

Regarding Villeneuve at Williams, I would have put money on Jenson Button ! He's still a Williams driver if I remember well and he is doing a great job. That said, I think it will be the same duo next year. It could have been different if Montoya would have needed Ralf's help.

OH GREAT !

Not only do we possibly have a slight snowball in hells chance of seeing price record breaking Fly GT40s in the shops at last (maybe)..

BUT...

We now get the chance to pay even more for it from some money grabbing, early releaser on EBAY !

JUST what the Hobby needs ehh?

Oh well - each to their own.

All I can say is they BETTER have got this release right because I believe it will make or break Fly.

I also believe that regardless of price, Fly have waited just the right amount of time and this will be a BIG seller. I know people say they have had their fill of GT40s but human nature, the 'grass is always greener' syndrome, interest and all that....

Hell I will even have to have one for a comparison wont I ? (Ha ! knew I would find an excuse to get one sometime)

If this is a make or break car for fly then they really are going to pull out all the stops because with a gt40 they are competing against the best known slot car manufacture. who make one of the best detail and quality cars (fly's speciality) but it is also one of the fastest cars i have seen i am of course talking about the scalextric gt40,
but i heard rumors very early this year that scaly had bought out fly so would scaly really let fly go

When you look at the complaints that Fly has generated over the years - occasionally poor clear coat and very frequently poor running problems, I really don't see how this single car could make or break them!
Not even if it was a dud - and it won't be.

Well if this car is going to make or break Fly then they are more than definitely made. We will be getting additional cars above our initial allocation as the initial allocation has been taken up completely with pre-orders. If you want to avoid disappointment then we'd advise you to get your order in pretty sharpish.

I agree!

And I am not Minimetal.

This is the real point and Minimetal has made it.

For the first time ever Fly have taken up the challenge and are going head to head with the mighty Scalextric and unless it comes with Scalextric like qualities as a minimum, then the whole of the remaining Fly range will be questioned.

That is why this car will make or break Fly.

It has to be better that the Scaley version. It just has to be!

It is highly unlikely that the Fly GT40 will be inferior to the Scalextric version in any significant way.
Personally, I don't care because I won't be buying one, regardless.
But even in the extremely unlikely event that the Fly version is not up to Scalextric standard, to conclude that this throws the entire gigantic range of other Fly cars into disrepute is nothing but trite nonsense.
The GT40 will neither make nor break Fly.

I am very confident that Fly are hoping that the Fly GT40 will make them.

It would be wrong to suggest that this would not be one of their aims with this car.

Lets just see how the slot car world reacts before drawing conclusions on that one Mecoprop.

What is the correct part numbering for the GT40 models ?

MRE has the Le Mans Gulf as A182 and the Le Mans Silver as A183 but GS has them listed the other way round, ie, the Le Mans Gulf as A183 and the Le Mans Silver as A182.

Anyone detect a note of incongruity/contradiction here?

Personally, I don't need to know how 'the slot car world reacts' to know that the Fly GT40 will sell well, regardless of how it compares with any other manufacturer. We see the pre-orders already mentioned by people who know what they are talking about.
There is ZERO chance of this car being a flop.
(In spite of the fact that I won't buy any either!)

Hmmm, you ask me, you didn't but hell that ain't ever going to stop me, but Fly are probably made already.

Me, I tell myself I'm waiting for that Tergal livery but I may dip my hand in my pocket for one sooner.

Of course the proof of the pudding with this one is whether they can survive being sent through the post: two of my four Scalextric ones arrived damaged, bits floating around in the box, the one that I kept for me-self I've stopped glueing the bits that break off back on. I think this was the one I coined the phrase "Fragile missile" for.

Funny, but with more running most of my Fly classics carry less damage. Go figure.

QUOTE Scalextric like qualities as a minimum

shyeah right..

it wont make or break fly.. they are made, if anyone has to be made it is scalex.

HOWEVER looks whats due.. TVR Tuscan or GT40? bugger me my moneys going scalex's way! I would take a TVR any day, like I would have an original mini compared to a new one same with the beetle, mitsubishi lancers, Impreza's and mostly cars in general.. it's not I cant afford them, it's the fact that old skool appeals more to me! that's why I like Cobra's, Escorts, sierras, lancias and stuff that was totally "why did they make them?" kind of cars!
