Hi everyone.
I have fallen in lust with the Carrera Ferrari 575. However before I order I need a racing companion (or two) for it. I was thinking of the new Fly Viper that everyone is raving about on the forum!

I have seen several different liveries but I would like a Viper with lights. Is the Oreca car the only one with lights? Are there any new releases coming out with lights?

Thanks for your help!

If your not afraid of a bit of tinkering, there are a few light systems on the market now. Purchase a car that has the asthetics you want, and add your own lighting system.

I dont own any carrera cars, but from what Ive read, it seems the carrera cars are not the fastest of the pack, a stable mate for it can come from any range.

The world is your oyster, if its looks your after, ie 2 great looking cars on the track, then the Oreca Viper is a good choice.

Cheers

I would tend to agree with the suggestion of the FLY Saleen as being a closer match to the 575 than the new Viper - around my 70 foot Carrera circuit at the very least. The Viper can consistently lap nearly a tenth or two quicker compared to the Saleen/575.

I think the current whire/blue/red version is the only one with lights. The upcoming version is a stunning looking red car (similar to a previous red livery). I think a pic posting was on this board or on slotcarillustrated about two weeks ago.

The best liveried currently available version is the red/silver car. What a total stunner...but no lights (you'll have to buy them separately and fit yourself).

Happy hunting.

By the way, the Fly Viper would outstrip the new Carrera 575 no problems but the Viper has a powerful power-gobbling motor and such a low-slung magnet that anything over 25ohm controllers would limit its performance.

I actually prefer the blue 'festina' Viper to the red/silver one.

I'm interested to see what the red and black scalextric vipers are like when they are released.

I also have a Carrera 575, the first I have ever gone out specifically to buy.
Amazing car and their best so far IMO.

BUT - the Fly Viper WILL leave it standing in the dust without alot of work on one or the other. Possibly one of the older Vipers might keep it company.

It is fast with both magnets but not fast enough, underneath all the gloss and nice flat chassis (CONGRATS on a fantastic model Carrera!!) it IS still a Carrera when it comes to performance although the chassis does not connect to the body with snap tight lego type connections AND screws anymore, just the screws - again - CONGRATS Carrera!.

Thanks for the advice guys! From what you have said I get the distinct impression the Fly might be faster than the Carrera!

Nevertheless I still want a Viper!!!!!!

I have found the thread on the forum relating to the A207 Viper. It has a photo of the real 1:1 car and it looks great and in my opinion better than the Oreca Viper. Does anybody know if the car is on schedule to be released in October as suggested? Also any piccies of the slot car rather than the 1:1?

Thanks for all the advice. (Even if I have decided to ignore it!)
