Flyslot (ex Fly Model Cars) are back and they have some great products on show with their two brands: Flyslot and Alpha Series.

We have talked about this before, but we haven't seen it done on a large scale. Flyslot are producing a car with a sound decoder and speaker built in. Sure it's the first one with a basic sound, but the plans for future versions are great. Sound linked to throttle, G-force activated tyre squeals and custom sound uploads. But for now the car on offer that will be shipping in a few weeks looks great and sounds great and the price is very affordable. I'll put up a video in the next few days.

HI

I was just speaking to a friend of mine as to the advances the model railway industry is making with sound. Theoretically, we could have very realistic sound for slot cars as well ... This is a great development and it will be very interesting to see how it develops!

all my very best,

Charles

Kremer Porsche CK5 ?? Now that's an interesting choice

More livery choices than the other 936 derivative Joest's 936C.
Look forward to the Grand Prix International version and the Richard Cleare white, gold & black(?) Gulf version both from LeMans '83

I wonder if this is the start of some more obscure Group C models??

Cars with motorsound.... yes we need that urgently - especially from Fly, they run so smooth without any noise from the gears..... hahahaha

And Scalex with star wars and bicycles..... please stop joking I have to work at least until this evening - not possible with that kind of news

perhaps the motor sound was developed to hide the gears noise
I just hope they can make it realistic ie noise mathcing the 1:1 cars sound, and grumbling noise at lower speeds, higher pitched noise when the cars run at full speed.

And after such a long wait for a manufacturer to come up with a 935/76, we now get two (Flyslot and Sideways). Curious what the most attractive model will be. Perhaps I will get a mix of both ...

Hi Doug! regarding the blue Porsche 997, did you have opportunity to see if the sponsors are "tampo" or if they are that weird "laquered decals" like they use in their Daytona prototypes range?

Thank you!

The Flyslot cars are tampo painted, whereas the Alpha Slot cars have the decals with clear-cote finish. At first glance, I didn't notice the Alpha Slot car I looked at had decals - the quality and finish is great.

Yes but model trains dont have to be lighter to run better, so good quality, ie heavy sound equipment can be fitted. Digital sound is a 5 minute gimmick, 5 mins later and its annoying. Also the room you are in needs to be relatively quiet or you wont hear the sound

Here is a video of the prototype sound decoder on display at the Flyslot stand.

Possibilities for the future: Up-loadable sounds, motor sounds linked to throttle (revving), G-force sensor enabling tyre squealing on cornering... Great stuff. Fly are pushing the boundaries once again.

Price will be very reasonable as the Alphaseries of cars are low detail and therefore already cheaper than the high-detail cars. The sound decoder will add more, but ideally the total price of the sound-equipped car should not be more than a standard high-detail car. What do you guys think about this?

Can you please clarify this - does this mean that the sound decoder currently plays 'random' engine noise only? Will the released version have the sound linked to the throttle?
