Does anyone know if there are any foam tyres out there, or wheels and tyres that will fit a Scalextric car so it will grip properly on a gooped gloss painted wooden track ?

Parma make foam tyres that will fit a 3/32 scalextric axle. [PARMA #70982 3/32" X .790 TUNA Racing Tires] They are wide but can be cut down to size - if a scale look is important. They will stick like 'you know what' to a blanket on a gooped wood track.

Plafit makes wheels for foam tyres for 3/32 axles as does Scaleauto - Scaleauto ones come pre-glued to the rims - plafit you have to glue and true

Don't need goop on them though - a light sand and clean with a little Shellite

cheers

Any of the suppliers for BSCRA type cars sell foam tyres on 3/32 wheels - check out the links on the BSCRA web site http://www.bscra.org.uk/links.htm
They also sell blank tyres you can fit on existing wheels - mostly the blanks are so wide you can cut them in half and get two pairs for the price of one.

These foam tyres produce a lot more grip that solid tyres (yes more than even the high grip solid tyres like NSR Ultragrips) which might be too much grip for some cars

Hi Guys

They are listed on Pendels site under NSR.

Insted of goop you may find suntan cream will work well dont ask me why but it works well at Wellingborough.

natural rubber blanks are available from ken o racing for 3 quid, cut em in half and get 4 tyres, they perform really well on smooth tracks and thats without using anything on the track or tyres. there not fish or foam they look like a very small closed cell [foam?] rubber tyre. john.
