Not wanting to sound like a grumbling ‘Rotary Jacky’, but why do the numerous car threads in the 1:32 scale section (Ferrari, Saloon, Porsche, BRM, etc.) contain so many photos of 1:1 cars? Give me pictures of 1:32 cars in that forum and perhaps run the proto photos in the 1:1 forum.

I am sure the moderators here can help you out with that. They should be able to move any posts and threads to the more appropriate section.

Sometimes people get confused and post in the wrong section. It is an easy mistake to make for those who are new or less familiar with how forums work. I will wait for the moderators to respond as to how they want to address it, they may be able to take care of it quickly. Otherwise, the best way to get them moved to the correct area is to report the post or thread and include a description of where it should be moved. This way anyone on the moderation team can see the post that needs moved and what needs done, saving them time.

I noticed that some time ago and even posted 1/32 pictures once or twice. One member stated that he was doing it to get his post count up to the next thousand!!!!!
I mostly just scroll past these days.

Personally, I think that pictures of 1:1 cars in any of the scale sections should only be used for reference - such as in driver#8's thread about the Scalextric MGB. Having said that, I may have been guilty once or twice.

As for posting with the sole intention of getting one's post-count up........... Seriously?? Ever heard of "quality, not quantity"? My life is fairly quiet since I retired - almost to the point of being mundane - but I would fear for my sanity if all I had to occupy my mind was my post-count on an online forum.

Now I've got that off my chest, I'm going to sit back and wait for the inevitable marque threads to appear in the 1:1 cars section. ........Or the glaring omissions of marques in the 1:32 section - MG, Rootes Group, Renault, Peugeot, etc, etc.

Me too. it gets annoying trying to find something of interest to be met with loads of pics that, because we live out in the sticks and have our internet delivered by snail, take so long to load that I just pass onto another thread. Like many, I am guilty of throwing the odd non slot related post in but it shouldn't, I feel, become a regular habit.

If I need info about or photos of a particular car, I am quite capable of looking up Google or DuckDuckGo.

The practice is widespread and not limited to the 1/32nd forum (it's everywhere), but it has been accepted by the moderating team for a number of years.
Which makes this thread a discussion about moderation. Such thing is against the forum rules as per this:

16/ Decisions by the Moderators are made as a team. If you wish to discuss the reasons for any act of Moderation please contact the Mods directly by PM. Public argument over a Moderation or disparagement of the Mods may result in suspension of member privileges.

Are we talking about doing a "Trisha" here? Very annoying picture bombing - that mostly do not add anything to the topic but bring your post count up?....yeah very annoying. But seems that people here like those pics....as they like to talk about how to strip paint from their model. ;-)
Personally, I do not want the moderators to waste their time cleaning up these threads.

Whoa! Can I tentatively suggests that's a whisker of a stretch?

Wicker's having a grumble and asking 'why?' but I think the question is more being put to the members than the administrators. Isn't it??

And for the avoidance of doubt, this post is not intended to challenge anyone, just give a different perspective on the original post. 😬

I understand where Wicker Bill is coming from, but the problem is where do you start a thread that is about a everything to do with a car brand including slot cars in 1/32nd, 1/24th, 1/43rd and HO scales and the real thing? We could end up with five separate threads, six if we separate the vintage cars, all dealing with the same subject and if you don't look at some forums you could miss some interesting posts.

I have to be honest, there are a few members whose posts regularly make me remind myself "other slot car forums are available". I've yet to investigate any other forums, I strongly suspect that some (all??) of these members will be members there too.

Maybe, one day, someone will post something that annoys me so much that I will find somewhere else to get my "fix" of interesting slot car conversation. But, for now, I just avoid (mostly.....) the threads in question.

1/32...1/24...1/43...1/1...they're just scales of the same thing, if you work on cars it's hugely helpful if you have reference photos that forum members have saved or taken, specifically if it's photos of very unusual cars.
I like seeing model cars and full sized versions and see no problem. In fact it all helps with your car knowledge if you intend staying in this hobby long term.
If you want to see threads about certain subject matters then get posting in them...or create them, if they're interesting enough they'll be popular.

GOGS is a prime example of a popular thread, this one would be right at home in there (y)

Really? So why are the threads not called collections of photos of the pertinent vehicle?
If I need a picture reference I almost never think of looking on SlotForum for a picture that two or three individuals might have posted.

You might have missed my point, photos of cars you wouldn't even know existed so how would you know what to search for?

...and threads always include full size cars and Slot cars of various scales.

And you missed mine.....that the people posting the pictures know more about unusual cars than the rest of us?
And how would you know what I know about cars, unusual or otherwise?
Or know more than Aunty google....???

some assumptions made there, mate

And therefore.....maybe you and others could reconsider posting excessive numbers of pictures ? Huh?
We are not morons.
