Today I received the first sad reaction from Kevan (on my first post here)...should I take it as a personal attack? Or is it just a criticism on my activity on this forum?
2 ha ha reactions, 2 likes and Kevan's sad on your post, Grunz. That's an 80% postive reaction, so do what most others do and ignore Kevan's negativity.

I agree except for one small detail... there is more than one prolific poster of pictures.
There are indeed, but it most cases those posters post pictures that are relevant to the thread, interesting and of a decent quality, so hiding them away as thumbnails would detract from their posts.

Without getting personal the problem will continue...
I agree, people have to be accountable for their actions.
But the thing is: is really a problem if they have 300 pages long thread about almost random pictures?
I went to the ferrari thread in the 1/32 forum....lots of random pics of ferraris of any shape and races (mostly no information whatsoever about the race, location, drivers, etc.) and I was even informed that people could eat lunch on their cars...but I love the pic of the dog in the 512 (I think)!
Are these pictures going to inspire mine next 1/32 build? Not likely.
But I see no harm as long as they keep it contained in those threads.

Best thread on the entire forum bar none (not that I am biased or anything). Just for the record. it actually contains about 1000 pictures of slotcars which is more than most.
Not inspired, what more do you want, pictures of Francoise Hardy?

On a serious note, Keith made a very valid point as far back as post 12. The alternative would 7 or 8 separate threads to deal with all the different scales/types of Ferraris, etc... That would be unmanageable, it is probably best to keep everything in one place.
There are in reality 2 other issues besides the well discussed "too many pictures".
Thread highjack where one person pollutes somebody else's thread.
Misplaced threads which have been started in the wrong forum and are never moved.

The perfect example is "Race cars you never heard of" it should always have been in the 1:1 forum, and it has now been highjacked by someone who has posted picture of road cars.

PS: As a couple of people have already mentioned, it's just a bit of fun in a silly little forum, chill guys, nobody died.

Nobody could accuse you of being biased...objective as a lens.

I went and looked at that thread...it seems that it is still on track, no hijacking except for some the sporadic pics of road cars.
I think it is all about perception.

I can usually tell whether I’m going to be interested in a particular thread, we know the signs. I just scroll on by most of the time if I’m not interested. As long as it’s not an unashamed thread jack then it’s avoidable.

Remembering everyone is different. Some people might have a particular time in their life where they just like posting and looking at random pictures whatever scale. I’m ok with that if it’s contained in a suitable area of the forum.

I did enjoy the thread that was along the lines of ‘what Aussie 1:1 race cars would make good slot cars’ or something like that. Since it’s something that invokes some imagination for those of us that have thought about those possibilities. But then with further thought I guess it’s quite exclusive and I can understand that might be quite irritating for everyone except those interested in Aussie cars.

On using google image search, I spent hours looking at liveries for BMW M1’s. As well as looking at historical 1:1 sites and 1:1 forums as I wanted to paint my 1:32 car to represent an actual car with race history. I found very little apart from what we’ve already seen as slot cars, but I wanted something different. Then a forumuser posted a bunch of unusual 1:1 liveries of the same body type that I was looking for. I have no idea where or how he got hold of these images but without them I’d never have been aware. Unfortunately it was after I’d given up and had already moved that car on and moved onto other things 🤣

Politeness definitely has its place but for some it seems to have little effect or function.
After being here since 2005 I am over rude, bombastic, pompous, knows everything about all slot car genres, types of people.
Call me whatever, I dont care.

Both are great examples of topics where people might post useful pics not just for the sake of get their post count up.
I believe this what boils down to.
I do not mind that sometime posts get a little off topics as long as there is a way of getting back to the thread's initial topic.
This forum has some incredible users with skills and knowledge that is not available anywhere else.
I also like that not all the post are "positive" but there is freedom for constructive criticisms: i do not like the "everything is awesome" approach.
But I have to say that something we might go a bit too far...

You actually are remind me of a mentor of mine when you say that. He’s a successful guy and always focussed and to the point. But always honest. Even if it’s uncomfortable. It’s always good to get that perspective.

So maybe there is a balance to be found depending on the given situation.

It's a Marmite thing, isn't it? Either you like marque/model-specific threads, or you don't.
Threads can be avoided if they don't pique your interest, provided the title is relevant.
What IS a problem, IMHO, is the posting of images that aren't in the spirit of the original post on other people's threads. It's an alternate way of hijacking.

If you ever want similar information please start a thread here. When I worked at a 1/43 model car specialist I had a particular interest in race BMW M1s and would have been happy to help.

On the subject of forum content I have no problem with anyone posting as many pictures as they want provided they are relevant to the thread. I abandoned my attempts to post meaningful pictures and information on the "race cars you never heard of" thread because it got swamped by pictures of road cars and I don't visit the thread any longer. It is a shame as I put a bit of effort into making sure that the content I posted was different and informative and hopefully increased other forum member's knowledge of obscure race cars just as some of the posts increased my knowledge as well.

If anyone is still interested in the Group C thread I am quite happy to scan and post more pictures but I will try to avoid posting pictures of some of the front runners like the Rothmans Porsche 956/962 where there are plenty of photos of them around already. If you want Group C2 cars I can post those as well.

It seems to me that, like a lot of opinion threads here that turn into "discussions", this one is at the point where a majority (or, God forbid, a unanimous.......) agreement is unlikely to be formed. Those of us who have contributed have said our piece, and never the twain shall meet.
