I do not think that we need the moderators for just keeping in line a thread - unless there is some serious issues going on.
Just politely pointing out what the thread should be about if someone takes the tangent.
I have done this in the past and some people politely ack the diversion and come back with relevant info, some have never come back to my threads, which is fine as well.

The rules are laid out, if you think something violates the rules in a thread then report it and we will consider action.
But be reasonable, the rules are not so hard as to say don't post a race car in a road car thread, if there is a tangible link then we wouldn't want to be upsetting members by deleting their posts.

If the thread is "Race Cars..." then clearly Road Cars don't belong and those posts should be deleted.

Unfortunately, like in so many other aspects of life, there are people who because they have legions of fans who egg them on seem to get away with more than they ought.

And, personally, I'd ask for a gentle interpretation of the code (More like guidelines, surely? 🏴‍☠️) with a mod posting a flag, a warning, before deleting anything because removing stuff can break the continuity and the public input shows da Management is aware and watching. Especially since, I suspect, few of us are really that cognisant with the code. 🤷‍♂️
