The new year dawns and the forum is still here, in a better place than this time last year. The software upgrade has enabled us to do a lot of things but we are well aware that the forum is not perfect. The mods have been discussing ways to improve things further but this is your forum so we would like to hear any suggestions you might have for additions/amendments which would enhance your experience of it.

Feel free to post your suggestions here. We will try to implement anything worthwhile but please remember that not everything is within our power to deliver.

The only thing that I can think of is a multiple picture capture when uploading. Doing them one at a time can take a while. For the magazines like Model cars that would help speed it up with so many pages.

If there is this capability already it would be good to know how. I just tried it with four but it would only let me select one at a time.

I've tried every combination I can think of and it still only lets me do one at a time with the browse function. If I dump them into the window from the desktop, it loads them all in but won't let me either preview or post.

PS. Just tried again in case I wasn't waiting for them to upload but when previewing, it says that I am not allowed to use that extension on this community! JPEGS as usual.

PPS. Aha.....just tried the advanced uploader which demanded I allow it use Flash..........aggghhhhhhhh.......sorry Steve........and that allowed me to select multiples with the usual shift and select.

Hi

Looking back to where we were just over 12 months ago I think the Forum has matured very nicely, once everyone had found the new features things have settled down well

It's that nice to use now that I can't think of anything that would improve it, just one thing though, in the old format if a user supplied a link to something it was very easy to give it a title, all I seem to be able to do now is copy and paste and the link just appears as mess

it can be done but how , please

Thanks Ade.

Regarding links, just type in the text you want to use first, select that text, then click on the link button and copy the link into the box. Like this.....

I would like to be able to easily access emoticons when posting a reply. In full version mode I can’t see where to add emoticons and so don’t bother. It was easy in the old version and emoticons add a fun element.

I'm happy with the forum as is, mainly because I've been a user for many years and am familiar with it, but I have two requests, the first simple, the second relatively simple but possibly time consuming.

1) that "www.slotforum.com" takes a reader to the forum's current "info" page rather than the forum's index page.

2) that the forum's info page is rearranged to make it more attractive to new users.

1 - Current default home page.

At present, the url www.slotforum.com goes directly to the forum's index page, which is rather like the front cover of a book being its index or appendix instead of an attractively illustrated title page. The index page is the default landing page for both the url typed directly into a browser and Google's slotforum search listing.

I know most/all of us know what each page looks like, but I'll post illustrative screenshots anyway.

Current "home" page. Not very attractive or attention grabbing.

2 - Current info page.

At the top of the info page is the SlotForum handbook, which is probably not the most important thing new users need to be presented with. An interesting article or some nice slot car pictures would be better, with the handbook link moved further down the page. The handbook is very useful once someone becomes a forum user, but let's hook them as users first.

Current info page.

It's definitely possible on a PC Gordon, but I believe you use an Apple?

I just Ctrl click on the images I want to upload, would that translate to Cmd click on an Apple? Worth a try?
I use a PC running WIndows 10 and can only select one picture at a time. Ctrl click doesn't work for me with the latest versions of Firefox, Chrome or Internet Explorer

Now that things have settled down a bit and we have had time to get use to this version of the Forum, I can honestly say that this is a vast improvement over the old one. Respect to Jason, Brian, Bob and all of the other unsung heroes bashing away at the coalface ..........

In the toolbar at the top of the reply box, you should see a smiley. When you click on that, you should get a range of emoticons at the bottom of the reply box, and should be able to add those to your post.

Could the order of the emoticons be re-ordered such that commonly used ones are always on the first ribbon?

Maybe we should have a vote for differing "standard" ones as well??
