I just got these pics back on an old reel of film. I took 'em originally when Grah started a thread about front-engined cars, but I can't find it now.
Anyway, this was my first scratchbuild since about 197bong- the first of my 'new slot age'. I came home from an AMOC meeting at Donnington absolutely reeling from seeing these cars racing for real and determined to make a replica of every car on the grid. This is as far as I got. Airfix shell (of course) Ninco wheels (added fairly recently-old ones made from kit wheels), Fly motor front mounted (I had just bought my first Fly car, a Marcos) to allow use of kit interior. Also cos it seemed 'authentic, and I'd never tried it before.

Here's the frame. It's an iso! Works really well with the magnet. I soon got this circulating my plexitrack quicker than my Marcos.

Beautiful work as always, howmet! I really like that chassis! Like a drop arm with the motor on it for weight? Is that the Iso feature? Sorry for my lack of knowlege...
I built an Aston a while ago but I had an ordinary positioning of the motor and a very simple chassis design. It was in fact my first proper scratch buildt car with a kit body. My girlfriend built an Airfix beetle at the same time, and they actually raced very well together. ...Ah, sweet memories

My own attempt at front engine performed surprisingly good ,with almost 50 -50 weight distibution ,no magnet flexy board with reverse iso and anti deck rail

Despite only having scaley power it zips round quite happily

Wonderful looking car howmet - I need to do something along those lines for my Bauer Cheetah chassis. Good to see you can make these front motored cars work without a magnet too Graham although I don't think I'll be attempting anything as complicated.

That's the chassis that reminded me, Grah- you posted it before, didn't you? And somewhere on the forum is a Larry creation. But I can't find that either.

Beautiful work Howmet, the Aston is one of my favourite cars. The only problem with your work is that it's so good I'm reluctant to pick up my soldering iron and risk ridicule at my amateurish efforts.

It's your car and you will be building it. If you don't like the way it turns out then don't be too upset. Any ridicule certainly wouldn't be coming from this quarter - I've never built a chassis yet! The shopping list is being created though.

I now have some parts for it so i need to whip it together!

have a go lads it's kind of thraputic until you need 3 hands and then you get annoyed and walk off

Some one mentioned a front engine car by me (Larry) so here is my front engine torsion bar chassis that was entered in the recent World Proxy first race in NY , This one did not perform too badly handling wise but had a slug of a motor in it so it finished well down, This race.
