I dont know who has received their latest newsletter yet, but they are now selling RC cars, I always thought that with a name like Get Slotted and their intention was to only deal in slot cars.

Is the market for slot cars dying? are all shops struggling? can Get Slotted not compete with their rivals and make the business work?

your thoughts...

GetSlotted (and slot cars) is extremely vibrant and will continue to develop, expand and offer better services. It will always be dedicated to slot cars and related products with dedicated slot car expert knowledge and support.

The RC line, as Nuro correctly states, is new and will be developed under a seperate site GetRC. However after we had a real blast with these RTR RC products it would have been criminal not to offer them via GS until GetRC and its full product range was up and running. Hope this clarifies.

Get Slotted are doing stormingly well, backed up by Matt`s help

I have had a meeting today with a local R/C character and it it`s Phoenix R/C club next for us too. Makes sense as lots of slot geezers race R/C too so there is a big cross over potential in both directions. R/C will feture at the event so you will get a chance to see all this and talk to Si at GS about developments.

Probably not a secret but look out for Get Model Railways, Get Wargaming,Get Tropical Fish etc. For GS it makes sense for them to develop as their IT back ground means that at least on a web based level they can scoff the competition. Don`t believe me? Take a look at how bad the R/C web sites are! Good luck to them I say. They are good people and backed me up when I needed it

it's all well and good having a spiffingly shiney website, but compare that to a basic, one, same job just different.

To be the website could be potentially difficult to navigate whereas the usual spares button is to the point quick and easy without the complication of which exact spares.

anyway, good luck to them although I have thought about RC I dont think it's quite for me but that doesnt mean I aint gonna have a go!

Just to clarify the official position, GS sells slot cars and associated products with an ever growing range. The company goes from strength to strength and has grown way beyond any expectations we set at the outset. We are passionate about this hobby and we are here for the long term, the significant investment (work and money) we have made in the 'shinny' website amd our physical store means we can properly cater for the thousands of loyal customers that we have already. This is growing all the time, we peak now at around 4,000 + visitors per day. There are some very good businesses competing in this space, but we intend to keep working hard and listening to what customers want, so we can maintain our position in the market.

As Nuro correctly pointed out GetRC is another venture and the purpose of the bit in the newsletter was just to let customers who may have an interest in RC as well that it was coming later this year. We do have the products in store and just plan to introduce some of them at GS until GetRC is finished.

Anyway, thanks to everyone who put the record straight, we have no intention of diluting slots to cater for other areas, each will be a separate entity and Inte I can understand what you mean, I think you do have to specialise, because becoming a composite means advice and product ranges can suffer as a result, which is not what we are about.
