Hi all!

I've been a the Le Mans 24-hours race a couple of times, and one of the great things about watching the cars at night is the glowing brake discs that gives this amazing orange light

Has anyone tried fitting lights behing the wheels to emulate this on a slot car?

I guess you could use the break lights from some light kit....

It's too complicated and if you buy all these light kits, you'll easily spend more money on them than the car is actually worth. You could also run out of room in your slot car. My Fly Lister Storm is very tight for space now that it has a front and rear light kit in (front and rear is just one kit).

Yeah! I have the Williams and Lotus F1s with 'Turboflash' from the late eighties. It's an LED wired up with a couple of capacitors. It might be worth seeing if you can find a circuit diagram online somewhere.

....if you already have a lightkit with brakelights installed. Wouldn't it be possible to just take a couple of wires from them and connect a couple of small LED's that you put behind the wheels?

Farnell.com has different orange LED's in small sizes.
