My workshop is almost non existent now. Most of the machines are out in the barn and what was the workshop is now the track room. I'm not too upset about itOne of the consequences of a recent domestic re-alignment was the sale of my house and a move (solo) to an apartment. There are both +'s and -'s. On the negative side, my shop space is significantly smaller (my small mill with 3 axis DRO the major casualty) but, on the other hand, I no longer have 3000 sq. meters of lawn and garden to look after, resulting in more time to spend in the smaller workshop.

Blimey, you've got a 2 acre veg plot, or should we call it a small farm? Impressive. But we have 4 acres![]()
Half of which is to grass and the rest feeds us.
Nothing but grass grows in the Western IslesStill gluttons for punishment, we are looking to move back to the UK, probably to the Western Isles and still have a plot big enough to feed ourselves from.
Hopefully no room for grass though!
Ah but..... wild flowers are jolly nice but they have seeds and the wind tends to be from the north here and the fruit and veg plot is to the south and if they seed on that, Ronnie gets a bit eggy! Ronnie eggy, you do not wish to see.Blimey, you've got a 2 acre veg plot, or should we call it a small farm? Impressive.
Have you considered a wild flower meadow for some of your grass land? They only need mowing once a year, and can be gorgeous. We've got a similar size plot, but have turned much of it over to meadow. It looks lovely, and it's great for wildlife.
Ah cold.......we regularly check the weather there. Yes it's not as hot in the summer but it's also not as cold during the winter. We are finding summers a bit much here and it's getting hotter. We are both 'weather' people and enjoy being out in it (in spite of my being anti gardening).Nothing but grass grows in the Western Isles, apart from that it's a wonderful place.![]()

PS: And it's cold all year round.
Yes, we get the same thing, but find that the time spent weeding is offset by the time saved not mowing. Plus a field full of meadow buttercups is a lovely thing.Ah but..... wild flowers are jolly nice but they have seeds and the wind tends to be from the north here and the fruit and veg plot is to the south and if they seed on that, Ronnie gets a bit eggy! Jason. You need a sheep? Or borrow a couple?Yes, we get the same thing, but find that the time spent weeding is offset by the time saved not mowing. Plus a field full of meadow buttercups is a lovely thing.
Each to their own though.
No, actually we like having a meadow. It's lovely, it's great for wildlife, and it's quite rare these days, with 97% of the UK's meadow land having been lost.Jason. You need a sheep? Or borrow a couple?
