One of the consequences of a recent domestic re-alignment was the sale of my house and a move (solo) to an apartment. There are both +'s and -'s. On the negative side, my shop space is significantly smaller (my small mill with 3 axis DRO the major casualty) but, on the other hand, I no longer have 3000 sq. meters of lawn and garden to look after, resulting in more time to spend in the smaller workshop.

We did consider it at one time but never got round to it. We have rabbits, chickens and ducks that take enough looking after.

Still gluttons for punishment, we are looking to move back to the UK, probably to the Western Isles and still have a plot big enough to feed ourselves from.

Hopefully no room for grass though!

My workshop is almost non existent now. Most of the machines are out in the barn and what was the workshop is now the track room. I'm not too upset about it

Blimey, you've got a 2 acre veg plot, or should we call it a small farm? Impressive.

Have you considered a wild flower meadow for some of your grass land? They only need mowing once a year, and can be gorgeous. We've got a similar size plot, but have turned much of it over to meadow. It looks lovely, and it's great for wildlife.

Ah cold.......we regularly check the weather there. Yes it's not as hot in the summer but it's also not as cold during the winter. We are finding summers a bit much here and it's getting hotter. We are both 'weather' people and enjoy being out in it (in spite of my being anti gardening).

One problem seems to be the nearest slot club is in Dundee and that is a plane ride away. I guess I'll have to start one.

Two letters in the mail today:

State pension - going up by £12 per month.

Council tax - going up by £12 per month.

So the state has just moved money from one place to another and then back again!

Still - mustn't grumble!

No, actually we like having a meadow. It's lovely, it's great for wildlife, and it's quite rare these days, with 97% of the UK's meadow land having been lost.

My brother has 2.5 acres on one side of his garden, one side of which he has a Ha-Ha. Not a meadow though as it is used as a general field. Grazing and hay production. He is always talking about a sheep for his lawn.

Today, I'm grumpy about our GP surgery.

Late on Wednesday afternoon I called them for some test results. I was told:- "If you still have symptoms, you'll need to see the GP." Now, the last I knew (only a few weeks ago) they only let you book an appointment for the same day, meaning you have to be on the 'phone early in the morning. So this morning I'm dialling right on 08hr30. After about 10 attempts with the line engaged, I finally get through......

Me:- "Can I see a doctor today, please?"

Receptionist:- "Tuesday two-thirty."

Me:- "Have you nothing for today?"

Recep:- "I've got a cancellation at nine forty-five."

Me:- "I'll take it." (Knowing it's going to be a rush to get showered, dressed, drive through the traffic, etc)

Point 1: I specified "today". Why not just offer me the cancelled slot without making a big deal about it? (It was the attitude I got when being grudgingly offered the cancelled slot)

Point 2: I get that this is a large practice, in terms of registered patients, and they can't let everyone know if they've changed their appointment criteria. What I don't get is that they keep moving the goal-posts.

I need to go back to the GP after having blood tests. I wonder what's going to happen when I want an appointment and I specify the GP and day?
