I hate it when people think they know what goes-on inside my head. On this subject step-daughter is one of the worst offenders in my life. This morning visiting step-son asked me if I was going with his mother when she went out. I told him I don't go with her. Step-d then started to explain to him (not that an explanation was required......) her take on why I don't go. She was way off the mark so I corrected her. She then went off on one because I corrected her in front of her brother.

I politely told her not to make excuses for me, if I want to explain my actions to people I'm more than capable of doing it myself - particularly when she's not telling the truth.

Slightly better news is that she's in the process of moving out again. This is the 4th time, including uni. I have a sense of foreboding that she will be back sooner rather than later...............

Why do You assume it's Random? And creeping? I thought it was bold Attempt by the little Buggers to further rot the content of Slotforum. Without solid posts, most things Fall down.

That's spell check for you.

I once wrote "duck" three time and it changed it to goose

(That might be a North American thing...)
Wor Lass refuses to turn predictive texting off, and doesn't always check what word it changes what she's typed to. She once sent a text to a clergyman with the word "porn" in.

Ebay emails everyday telling me my Scaley XKR is on its way from England. I know it is … I bought it. Telling me when it leaves is OK and I'll know when it arrives. And all because of their Global Shi**ing Program … well … I'm almost tempted to block eBay emails but I do like to know when something in a saved search shows up.

The fact that they send two of everything annoys as well. To add to the annoyance, the French lot do it all again twice this end. Both notices come down together!

While I'm having a Sunday morning moan, I am somewhat irate every time I see the term 'cultural appropriation' !

As if there is a pure anything. Everything and every one out there is a mongrel. Complaints that Sainsbury have got a Persian curry dish wrong! 'Pure' cuisine is nothing of the sort but has influences and adaptions going back forever, at what stage does it become set in stone and why should a label be an insult? Sticks and stones etc.

Seems just like another example of super sensitive/snowflake/ and indeed racist (

) mindset to me. Disgusted of Tunbridge Wells seems to have infected the entire gene pool of modern life. Mongrels indeed.

However, I do wonder where this 'the way I do it is the only right way' bit comes from. It seems everywhere. The only other forum I now visit is a Hi-fi place and the aggression because of a few people will not allow that there maybe other ways of achieving the wanted results is astonishing, reaching that stage where there have been threats to send the boys round.

Maybe life has got so relatively easy these days (at least in our part of the world) that some folk feel the need to have more of a struggle to make life seem worth living.

Live and let die then.

It's a worrying trend. What the population at large really thinks has barely changed, but those thoughts are being expressed more privately. Many shy away from expressing strong opinions for fear of being labelled an 'ist of one sort or another by the shouty, intolerant, every-opinion-other-than-mine-is-wrong, self-righteous minority who've been given an overly loud voice by the advent of social media and the internet. Trial by mob. Guilty, but of nothing more serious than holding and expressing an unpopular view.

It's evolving into an unfortunate repression of free speech, but whereas we can rise up and revolt against state sponsored repression, how do we revolt against the mob?

Simple........ Refuse to bow to their demands. Vive la revolution! The best way to beat bullies - which is most definitely what the "self-righteous minority" are - is, and always has been, to stand-up to them.

Actually, South Park has tackled similar issues like this. While I sometimes think they it below the belt, they are usually spot on on their analysis.

For example back in the early 2000s when the built a wall around South Park to keep out child molesters...

Which of course created other problems..

We have had this discussion at work and the fact that the town we live in voted 10% for the ultra-right wing party shows there is discontent.

Some of it is down to the "we've always done it this way..." but in my experience it is because they have no clue how to express themselves otherwise.

In any case, what is almost always is missing is a rational exchange where at least both sides can be heard out.

The latest debates I have seen in most English-speaking countries (and I do watch quite a few) have been laughable, scary, disgusting and occasionally shocking.

In Germany things are heating up and the fact that the two major parties who have traded power since the war are rapidly melting is proof there is a problem in society.

I have talked to Trump supports, leavers, remainers, right wing voters and the like because while in most cases I would never ever support their points of view I to understand where they are coming from.

I always let them speak their mind and make it clear I was listening and heard them. Usually they will let me speak my mind and in a few, rare occasions I have been able to at least get them to modify their attitudes to a few things. Seldom though...

In 2016 I did an experiment. I liked and shared a ton of posts that took a particular stance on Twitter and Facebook about a particular legal issue for 3 days (just 3 days) and my accounts were flooded with only news and info that only supported that one stance. After 3 days of waiting I did the same thing again. Results: I was flooded with info for the opposing stance.

I did this for two major issues that year and both times the results were the same.

My conclusion is that it is VERY easy to think you are always right when you get fed nothing but info that supports your point of view.

Whilst that is probably true, it's the people whose views are so rigid that nothing will even dent them that get me.

There is one guy on the hi-fi forum who has been banned from all the others because of his stance. The more people disagree and try and put an alternative view, the more he digs in. Anyone that disagrees with him is an idiot.

He may well have a documentable disease but he appears not to be alone considering who the Americans voted into power.
