after all the years of suffering being called a miserable old bar-steward by mrs zz , I am finally rejoicing that she has come round to my way of thinking. the source of this wonderment?... a newly found joint loathing of the foul phenomenon of otherwise seemingly intelligent individuals starting a sentence with the word "so"!!!! if you have been asked , "how do you propose to re-attach that button"? , or , "what method would you use to distribute seed in your garden" , fair enough but otherwise , nooooooooooo! other current hot favourites are "yoofs" with their kecks hanging out the top of their trousers and newly qualified drivers with a green p plate (clearly designating pillock) who refuse to commit to crossing a roundabout without having received a written invitation at least a fortnight in advance! what gets your hackles up?

All the earlier talk about snow reminded me of a time long when i was travelling home along the A12 in my Anglia 105E it must have been 1967, it,s still vivid in my mind it was snowing really snowing driving into the windscreen as i crawled along at snails place , not that many cars on the road in those days just this one set of tyre tracks in front of me which i was trying to follow as i wiped the inside of the steamed up screen .

Just outside a place called Hutton there is a rise in the road up to Brentwood and the car just ran out of traction, so i sat there obviously no wireless to listen to no mobile phones in those days just me it seemed, but in those days we were prepared in the boot a shovel and a blanket , wellie boots and a box of candles with matches , so i cleared the snow around the front of the car and it still would not climb this slope , so i took the rug i bought earlier from inside the car i was taking home to put in the lounge and put it in front of the back wheels got in the car started it up and the tyres gripped and i just kept going eventually getting home just before midnight .

My young wife of just 2 years opened the door and said words i will never forget standing there as i was looking like frosty the snowman complete with red nose, ooo it looks nasty out there, yes my love it is, did you manage to get the rug ok, yes dear, is it in the boot, well it was my dear but it,s somewhere near Hutton on the A12 now.

"I don't remember calling you names, or being aggressive. "

That's because you didn't, chap. I was making a point about intolerance in the wider world.

"If you think I've done either then I sincerely apologise."
See above. No apology necessary. But kudos for offering one. ;o)
Hey I sort of agree with most of what Wankel said....

but whats this about Dopamine?

that seems really grumpy
Meh, nothing to worry about.
Being male, being an Aries, being an old sod, being a slot car builder/racer/enthusiast/geek I sometimes think there is a place for bit of blunt speech....

Instead of innuendo, insinuations and vague references say what you really think at the time about what it is that is upsetting/annoying you.

I know the policy of the forum is to play nicely but sometimes I feel like scorching some members for what they type.

Not feeling grumpy about much at the moment actually.
Actually there is something that I find annoying...it is the sound that some slotcar controllers make when the operator releases the trigger to brake.

Most just click quietly as the contacts meet but one driver I raced against would use a Slotit controller and the sound when braking was a loud "Tock!"

Tock tock tock tock tock tock tock tock tock tock tock tock tock...... when driving next to that sound it would break my concentration.

Fortunately the guy has upgraded to a Difalco....much quieter.

To be honest, I've been so lucky in my life that taking a bit of flak on the internet doesn't bother me too much.

By some miracle, I'm still in good health, I've got a great family, a nice home, and some land. Others aren't nearly so fortunate.

So, in some ways, I'd rather it was me taking the incoming than somebody else, because I know I can deal with it.

Good for you mate, I'm sure you've worked hard for what you've got.

But you're making me feel a bit grumpy now, because I haven't got a workshop.

But you have space for one?
Yes, plenty of space, even a rough plan. Perhaps one day I'll also have the time and money.
aah, time and money...two out of three of my enemies.

My third enemy is motivation....some call it energy.
You pair are far too happy. Clear off and leave us to grump in peace.

Hhmmm - NASCAR. I can never shake the feeling that many U.S motor racing venues are to drivers what bowls are to goldfish.

Left turn, left turn, left turn, left turn.............

But what would I know? My motorsports of choice are rallying and hillclimbing.

I have actually driven a NASCAR ... in anger... and I was thinking how if I had 3-5 cars in front, behind and beside me there is a LOT going on...

I poo-pooed oval racing for years until i actually tried it...
Im at work, full of cold, still 4 hours left on the clock and Im at least 15 miles from the nearest slot car.

Im definitely grumpy. Compared to 95% of my colleagues I am old. Not sure if Im a git - but if anybody is cheerful around me before 5pm I may find out.

Apart from that Im fine 🙂

I love a story with a happy ending,
Turns out Im not a git - well nobody was cheerful in my presence before 5pm so I may be a latent git but at the moment I am lacking corroborating evidence of gitness.

So until I can complete the holy trinity I think I had better jump over to the pedants thread and work a bit harder....
