This is probably down to the post Goodwood euphoria not having worn off yet - but how about a Nine hour race for Ninco Vintage cars?

It could be run from 10AM - 7PM. Six teams of three, so we could probably fill the entries from the various nights, but we could also take entries from other local clubs that may be interested. Any Ninco Classic car in any standard configuration that they were offered in. Teams supply their own car and spares, and one driver, one marshall and one mechanic (resting) at all times. Perhaps even insist on each driver doing 3 whole hour (57 min) stints either chosen by the team or drawn at random?

Whaddyareckon?

Eh?

It will be good to see you at the track Sean. I know Thursday nights is tricky for you, but we meet every Monday if that's any better.

I imagine it would be on a Sunday as that is when we have held our 12 hour races - but I guess it could be on a Saturday if that's more suitable for people.

Of course as it's a 9 hour the stints would be 45 (42) mins if we were going to run through the 6 lanes twice during the day. Not an hour as I suggested before.

We had a quick chat about it last night and it was suggested that we wait until the weather warms up next year to hold it, possibly April.

Jim - Not sure if you clocked this the other night. Team Saga Sport are up for this, subject to date ..... (like everyone).

So that would be Nick and PJ with their slow journeyman tyre kicker and paint scratcher.

Besides my ability to mess up a race winning car (that was my main contribution to the recent 12 hour I am not sure how else I can help the team, seeing as none of my own cars would fit the bill or be prepared to a suitable standard.
I would, of course, be keen to help in any way financially for a new car or bits required and also help by making encouraging noises while the other two get/keep the vehicle on the road.

Bring it on.

Moving this on a bit we are looking at the first Sunday in March - the 3rd - as a possible date.

Teams provisionally interested are:

Saga Sport - Nick, PJ, Will
Alresford - DaveL, Keith, AN Other
Liphook - Geoff, Brian, AN Other
Home team - Tony, Ady, AN Other
The obvious winners - Wes, Kev?, me

Long Distance team - Pete Solari, Pete Simpson?, Paul Hayes? (I spoke to Pete Solari at Orpington and he's very keen to do it)
Pressbutton team? - Pete, Steve, Adam/Karl

That leaves Reuben, Chris, Dicky, Clarkey, Sean, new Steve, Greg and Terry, Dan.

Perhaps we'll have to make it 4 man teams!

3rd March is a good date for me as it is one of the few 1st Sundays of the month my dike club doesn't run an event.

I will talk to New Steve about perhaps joining Saga Sport. I think he fits the criteria to perform with this select team - subject to the agreement of the other members.

I hope last night was good. - New classes and dates about to go on the web site.

Ooh - now that sounds interesting, Will!

I presume it's more of a spectating thing than participating

Are you sure now, Will?

It's not like the "b" is near the "d"!

Oh Shi! I ain't gona live this one down.

In mitigation your honour:
A very good lady I know who is an experienced special needs teacher and qualified to diagnose dyslexia says "I have byslexik tendencies and if I where at school today would be classed special.

It's a long time ago, but I can remember missing playtime to repeatedly copy out words I couldn't spell, I still can't spell them. Only since the coming of spell checkers can I write stuff that others can read.
Some might say that is a retrograde step

On behalf of the proposed "Long Distance team" ... YES, we're up for a bit of Ninco Classic on the 3rd March - 10am sounds like a good time to get the race underway too!
Keep me posted and I look forward to seeing you all there.

Ok! So it's looking like a full house!

Home team - Tony, Ady, Chris
Saga Sport - Nick, Will, PJ?
Pressbutton - PeterP, Steve, Adam
Long Distance - PeterS, ?, ?
Alresford - DaveL, Keith, ?
Defending Chumps - Jim, Wes, Kev

That leaves Reuben, Dicky and Geoff. I think Tony should have Geoff in his team, as he's getting all the benefits of being Geoff's future son-in-law, Reuben could be an Alresford driver as he lives in Alton now and we don't mind giving young Dicky a drive as he did so well for us last year. As long as he doesn't lose concentration thinking about Mitzi Bushey or Sue Baroo too much! How about Matt, has he been asked? Don't think I've missed anybody else out, have I?

As PeterS's team are coming the longest distance I asked their preferred start time. So we'll run from 10am till 7 pm - twice in every lane for 42 minutes. We still haven't decided whether to make it one driver per stint yet.

Does anyone actually know if the "lessor spotted PJ" will actually be here for this event? If not it might be just Will and me driving for Team Sagasport. I think we could cope with the 45 minute driving stints.
