This is probably down to the post Goodwood euphoria not having worn off yet - but how about a Nine hour race for Ninco Vintage cars?

It could be run from 10AM - 7PM. Six teams of three, so we could probably fill the entries from the various nights, but we could also take entries from other local clubs that may be interested. Any Ninco Classic car in any standard configuration that they were offered in. Teams supply their own car and spares, and one driver, one marshall and one mechanic (resting) at all times. Perhaps even insist on each driver doing 3 whole hour (57 min) stints either chosen by the team or drawn at random?

Whaddyareckon?

Eh?

It will be good to see you at the track Sean. I know Thursday nights is tricky for you, but we meet every Monday if that's any better.

I imagine it would be on a Sunday as that is when we have held our 12 hour races - but I guess it could be on a Saturday if that's more suitable for people.

Of course as it's a 9 hour the stints would be 45 (42) mins if we were going to run through the 6 lanes twice during the day. Not an hour as I suggested before.

We had a quick chat about it last night and it was suggested that we wait until the weather warms up next year to hold it, possibly April.

Moving this on a bit we are looking at the first Sunday in March - the 3rd - as a possible date.

Teams provisionally interested are:

Saga Sport - Nick, PJ, Will
Alresford - DaveL, Keith, AN Other
Liphook - Geoff, Brian, AN Other
Home team - Tony, Ady, AN Other
The obvious winners - Wes, Kev?, me

Long Distance team - Pete Solari, Pete Simpson?, Paul Hayes? (I spoke to Pete Solari at Orpington and he's very keen to do it)
Pressbutton team? - Pete, Steve, Adam/Karl

That leaves Reuben, Chris, Dicky, Clarkey, Sean, new Steve, Greg and Terry, Dan.

Perhaps we'll have to make it 4 man teams!

QUOTE (Wambulance @ 14 Dec 2012, 12:20) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>3rd March is a good date for me as it is one of the few 1st Sundays of the month my dike club doesn't run an event.

Ooh - now that sounds interesting, Will!

I presume it's more of a spectating thing than participating

Are you sure now, Will?

It's not like the "b" is near the "d"!

Ok! So it's looking like a full house!

Home team - Tony, Ady, Chris
Saga Sport - Nick, Will, PJ?
Pressbutton - PeterP, Steve, Adam
Long Distance - PeterS, ?, ?
Alresford - DaveL, Keith, ?
Defending Chumps - Jim, Wes, Kev

That leaves Reuben, Dicky and Geoff. I think Tony should have Geoff in his team, as he's getting all the benefits of being Geoff's future son-in-law, Reuben could be an Alresford driver as he lives in Alton now and we don't mind giving young Dicky a drive as he did so well for us last year. As long as he doesn't lose concentration thinking about Mitzi Bushey or Sue Baroo too much! How about Matt, has he been asked? Don't think I've missed anybody else out, have I?

As PeterS's team are coming the longest distance I asked their preferred start time. So we'll run from 10am till 7 pm - twice in every lane for 42 minutes. We still haven't decided whether to make it one driver per stint yet.

1st weekend in March is not that far away now. What are we going to do this year? Same again or something different? Who else is keen?

I think there might be a kerfuffle!

How's your week in Lahndahn going Dave?

I'm Ok with whatever most people are keen to see. The only thing, from a purely personal point of view, that I wouldn't be keen on, is non-standard cars. I lose interest being ground into the dust by you and Peter with your super-tuned stuff over ten laps - let alone ten hours.

Goodwood members meeting is the last weekend in March, so preferably not that weekend.

Got anything you can do us a deal on as hand-out cars, Matt?

Definitely will be space for Gosport, Chris.

Gosport drivers supported us in the first couple of 12 hours so will be good to see a team back.

Fine by me!

It's looking like Ninco Lancias are favourite. Matt is going to try to bring one along for us to run. Possibly next week.

As there are a few that can't make the 16th, would the 30th be better?

I seem to remember I was the only one that didn't like the 30th, but that was only because of the Goodwood members meeting and I will only be going to that if I get free/cheap tickets!

16th then - I've gone back through the thread and that fits with Matt, Wes and Will's requests, as well as being a Sunday.

Matt,

In previous years we have charged a fee per team (about £30 I think) to cover purchasing cars for the event and all extra money has gone to charity. As you are supplying the cars, we could support a charity of your choice if you like. What would be good is if we could donate the cars to Tony at the end, for letting us have the track foc for the day.

Jim

Sandy,

In the apparent absence of PJ and Nick at the moment, I think Will was hoping to sign you for Team Saga Sport in the current transfer window.

That's great news, Chris.

As to brakes, we're already relenting on one artificial driver's aid for this event - putting cars that crash back on. I'm surprised that you haven't asked us to fit steel braid to the track, so the magnets work too!
