The ITV production on Goodwood was on tonight ...... a bit twee.

Some bits were just brilliant but the "moments" were just too few and the ones they show were repeated over and over. Still it was good to watch ...... it should be the ITV version of Iplayer soon.

I have to say that I admire your restraint, Greg! I have just watched this programme, and as you said, there are some brilliant bits - great racing, nice in-car camera stuff etc., but yet again far far FAR too much of the sideshow inaction. How many of the viewers actually give a flying flip about the glamourous ball? Amanda Stretton doing some cooking (or whatever it was - I hit the fast forward) or more time spent on the incredible collection of Silver Arrows? Tricky one, that...
You have to wonder just how many people look forward to the Revival broadcast every year so they can see what second hand clothes were available. I would guess at five, maximum.

I know old age is making my fuse ever shorter, but it does seem to be getting worse.

Grrrrrr

Its just a shame that they do not focus on the cars exclusively. No J-5 MK-IV 1967 Le Mans winner shown. Even when it was wheeled onto the main track for the Gurney tribute. The 1967 Le Mans was the race when he sprayed champage from the podium! A nano second of the Cobra race. Only focusing on the front three on the Whitsun Trophy what about the newly restored Maserati 151/3? It makes me appreciate the cost of being there myself OK I never saw the Mercedes. But This is why I do not buy the Goodwood DVD. In fact last years one was being sold in a limited edition bag With a Ferrari GTO, Silver arrow Mercedes or Cobra printed on it. Together with the Telegraph newspaper (and some had a bopttle of wine) from the for £3!!

I agree with a lot of the comments about actual car time it seem's they want to cram so much into such a short programme just as you settle to watch the hill climb they switch to some lady talking about fashion for the ball i suppose they have to cater for all but a programme about revival which should be about Goodwood racing heritage should really be about car's i know a few ladies who are interested in the cars, none including my better half who discuss the lady in pink shoes, i wonder what Ember thinks Keith.

Oh Lord... you mentioned Ember and Pink in the same paragraph...
I just got a ticking off because she thinks all her articles in SlotCarMAG have a pink background

Gawd... They'll probably be neon pink now.

They might show it on OneHD here in about 6 months. And then they'll show it about 12 times in two weeks. I shall let you know what I think then, Keith.

I was just glad I had recorded it so I could fast forward through most of the programme.

Cheers

Morning Abbo i must admit i am dissapointed in the way the coverage of the Goodwood Revival has gone the last few years it has been something i looked forward to, but it is now very fragmented, i personally am not interested in the ball being told by a presenter who is who in the penguin suit or disscussing the merits of the latest fashion which my wife could not afford if she even liked it, i want to see cars, cars, and more cars and our heroes still with us from yesteryear, it is fantastic watching a McLaren or a Ferrari e.t.c bellowing it's way up the hill get's my attention, on pink in the same paragraph as Ember i did end the paragraph mentioning pink before mentioning Ember i have learned over the years!!!. Keith.

I think you are all expecting too much from the ITV production. It is a general interest program for the casual viewer, not a specialist one for the motorsport enthusiast.

If you want to see all the racing then go to the event or buy the DVD, which contains much more than you see on the telly. They film virtually everything for the DVD and the ITV stuff is just snippets selected from the full production.

The 2011 DVD is four hours long and contains extensive coverage of eleven races. I would expect this year's to be similar.

By the way, Keith, the Revival is a circuit race not a hill climb - are you sure you have been watching the right program?
