Do any of you guys planning to go to the 2004 "Revival" races at Goodwood?

I have been invited by the organizers to demonstrate (but not race) one of my old cars and I am going with another slot car enthusiast from Detroit. May be we could all meet and have a good time sharing slot car stories and experiences?

I have been for the last three years and this year got my membership of the GRRC so I will be there.

I have been invited to participate in a "parade" of important cars driven by Sir Jack Brabham who is the guest of honor this year. The "demonstration" (we will have our own protest signs against something, not sure what yet

) will apparently happen on both Saturday and Sunday at 9AM. So I will be driving the Cooper Indy car along other cars, as a "good clip" but not "racing" speed. This is what I was told.
I will be there with my good friend from Detroit, Rich McMahon, Daimler-Daimler engineer and slot car racing enthusiast.
So if we can all get together for a pint of ale some place convenient to all, it would be great! But NO British food please.

Doc! That sort of attitude could get you court martialled. The whole point of the Goodwood gig is to be a 50s Brit, and eat pies, chips, candy floss, toffee apples and microwaved pasta... wait- hold that last one. I understand it's the Lancashire Hot pot that brings Black Jack over each year. Cucumber sandwiches for the royalty.

Did you get membership without any problem, David?

Only every year when the renewal letter comes through we are politely "warned" that there is a large waiting list for membership and not to dilly-dally with our subs!

Haven't missed a day of this great event yet! A good time to remind everyone that this year is "supposedly" advance ticket only. To keep the non-hatted riff-raff out!

I thought you had participated in this event before, Mr.P, or was that the Festival of Speed? Seem to remember it was not long after your book was published. As you're only over in a demonstration capacity, perhaps I could offer you some smaller scale competition as the three clubs I race at are all within an hours drive of Goodwood. Better warn you, though, that we are only simple country folk who race things that we buy in boxes from the local street corner spiv, so it may not be your cup of tea! Or plate of Stilton for that matter!

I was on the waiting list for 18 months and didn't think I would get the membership until next year but got confirmation a month or so ago.

Make sure when you apply that they give you a reference number, then you know you are definitely in "the system."

I was a guest as the Festival of Speed twice. It was GREAT! I had the honor the second time to drive the Cooper owned by the Honda Motor Co., only driven previously by Jack Brabham at Goodwood before it was shipped to Japan where only Soichiro Honda drove it around Suzuka. Made me feel a bit special...

Name your type of track, controller used, voltage and current available, magnet or no magnet, and we will come. Find me at the track or pick me up at my B&B, courtesy his Lordship, Thursday or Friday PM being best.
